Artists: Kate Nash

Talky-chanty songstress, Kate Nash, is to head off for a large-looking tour in the Autumn to promote what I’d expect to be a rather popular and successful debut album.

There’s also a single out this week, ‘Foundations’.

I expect that Kate played Glastonbury, but I didn’t see her on TV, so couldn’t be sure. She is playing at lots of other festivals this summer, though.

That bustin’ tour in full:

October
20 Exeter, Corn Exchange
21 Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms
22 Cambridge, Junction
24 Brighton, Concorde 2
25 Oxford, Zodiac
26 Stoke, Sugarmill
28 Abderdeen, Lemon Tree
29 Glasgow, Oran Mor
30 Newcastle, Stage 2

November 01 Cardiff, Solus - November
02 Nottingham, Trent University
03 Northampton, Roadmenders
05 Manchester, Academy 2
06 Leeds, City Varieties
08 Liverpool, Academy 2
09 Birmingham, Irish Centre
10 Bristol, Anson Rooms
12 Norwich, Waterfront
13 London, Shepherd's Bush Empire

the title

is a bit screwed up

Nah, I like it.

City Varieties

CITY VARITIES!?

CITY FUCKING VARIETIES!!??

HOW?

much as i love her

i find it disturbing that she's been booked in to play a 2000 capacity venue in London in just under 5 months time when at the moment at least no one has really heard of her.

god bless the music industry and all who sail her merry ship.

but between now and then

she'll have a Paul Epworth produced LP in the shops

it's a slight gamble rather than a foolish one

thing is, it's the empire.

if they don't sell out, they can close off the levels and make it seem fuller with the lower levels and ground floor. so, it would be ok. plus, she'd probably do it. she'll be pimped like a motherfucker everywhere.

i can't stop listening to foundations :(

srsly though, it IS amazing isn't it?

you like the streets

your opinion is null and void.

She did indeed play Glasto

Kieran Hebdon was watching. We chatted. Well I chatted, he just looked a bit scared of how much I knew about his life. Kate Nash was alright though.

Oh come one

Whilst Caroline's A Victim is REALLY awful, I'll admit I really like Kate's other stuff. Even Foundations. Her acoustic stuff is really quite beautiful at times, and all this "she's the new Lilly Allen!" stuff isn't based on anything more than the accents (and they don't even come from the same parts of London, hell, Kate lives closer to Milton Keynes than Camden). Fucking music industry. It's nice that she's got a record deal, of course, but I can't help but feel she's being packaged into a product and won't realise it until too late.

her acoustic stuff

actually brought me to tears the first time i saw her upstairs at the garage (RIP), it was that perfect. just a shame the records coming out seem to have no relation to that gig.

splattered.....

....on the road hopefully. did anyone see that picture of her where she looks like lily allen with a different head? you can just hear the producer going 'more cockerney please!'

she is

number 2 on the midweek chart, without being playlisted by radio one.
