After all the talk in the other thread about them, I realised I should finally get round to getting one of their albums. Which order would you place them in?

Re: Which SFA album first?

Impossible question to answer really. I would just say buy any, they're all brilliant. Or, even better, buy all of them - if you can afford it!

Re: Which SFA album first?

start with guerilla maybe?

Re: Which SFA album first?

Super Furry Animals. My favourite has recently been the b-sides album. And, in my opinion, it's no less accessible than any of the 'proper' albums.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Oh right, I knew that.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Radiator is just about my favorite, followed by Phantom Power and Rings Around The World, although I would imagine Radiator being marginally the easiest to get into out of those.

Re: Which SFA album first?

I know many big sfa fans who call Guerrilla the worst album but I think it's brilliant. Pretty accessible too.

Re: Which SFA album first?

With due respect, these people are idiots :)

"Guerrilla" is a masterpiece and no self-respecting music fan should be without it. Get that first. Then "Radiator".

Re: Which SFA album first?

I can't get into guerilla really and wouldn't recommend it as an introduction to SFA. It's not very accessible really.
You can pick up a copy of radiator for £5 in the HMV Sale so do that. It's also their best.
Alternatively you could get songbook.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Fuzzy Logic is good in places, I find listening to mwng a tad difficult, though thats probably because its sung in Welsh.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Basically ignore anything after Mwng. The first four albums are all amazing but the money they got given by Epic was wasted. Guerrilla is probably their best album, but Radiator is the best to start with I would say.

Re: Which SFA album first?

In my view, if you wan't to hear all the fun hits get Songbook and then you can progress from there.

In my personal opinion get Radiator first although Guerilla is a stonewall classic but harder to get into.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Okay - looks like Radiator or Guerrilla then. I'm not a great fan of buying singles collections, unless I know I'm not going to want to buy any of the studio albums.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Go for radiator, definately more accessible than guerrilla. Songbook on dvd might be worth checking out if you're into music dvds, but i'd steer clear of the cd, afterall you KNOW that you'll end buying most of the sfa albums, not much point in having the singles collection as you say. But the dvd does give you all the videos so it's never going to be made redundant in the same way.

Re: Which SFA album first?

You also get Ice Hockey Hair on Songbook DVD which despite being one of their best songs isn't on any album

Re: Which SFA album first?

Just get the Ice hockey Hair EP off ebay or summink!

Re: Which SFA album first?

got to be radiator. the last three songs are the best ending to an album ever. then outspaced to get their more weird side, then fuzzy logic for the punk side, then guerilla for the...umm...drum n bass side, then phantom planet for the folky/beach boys side. although mwng is also great. rings around the world is shit tho, apart from a couple of tunes

Re: Which SFA album first?

phantom planet? what the hell i am on about. too much oc. phantom power i meant.

Re: Which SFA album first?

Rings might be the worst one but I listened to it a few days ago and it's still pretty damn good.

Re: Which SFA album first?

lol i made the same mistake the other day, fucking t4 etc...

i would buy in this order...

1. Guerrila
2. Radiator
3. Phantom Power
4. Outspaced
5. Fuzzy Logic
6. Mwng
7. RATW (which may well be the best worst of career albums ever made)

but buy them all at some point kids.

and theyre back soon, yippee!

Re: Which SFA album first?

hmm, i reckon through accesibility / representation of the band you should go:

Songbook
Guerrilla
Radiator
Rings Around The World
Phantom Power
Mwng
Fuzzy Logic
Out Spaced
Phantom Phorce

i'm actually quite envious that you're about to discover these albums...
