Taking their blueprint from the Loveless theatre of dreams and adding breathy vocals Miki Berenyi would be proud of, Cardiff trio The Voices have mastered their angelic, feedback bathed sound to a stately level of perfection within just two albums.

'I'll Always Be Within You When There's No One Left Inside' is without doubt one of the standouts from their recent The Sound Of Young America opus, and although the reference points are fairly obvious, don't be fooled into thinking this is a cheap attempt to plagiarise the past.

Particularly on 10-minute-long B-side 'I See Dark Times Ahead', which treads a similar Can-inspired foothold to Electrelene before engaging itself in a dizzying loop ad infinitum.

Of course, what this does tell all and sundry is that the best psychedelic substances obviously reside quite contentedly west of the Severn.

the first album is beautiful, nowt new granted but if your into this typa stuff then it'll do just fine.

They are pretty good but its all a bit safe and strict to shoegaze
