There's a huge amount of them, it's a pretty umbrella term. Try The Apples In Stereo, Of Montreal, Beulah, The Bicylces, Starlight Mints, The Clientele, The Aislers Set, Saturday Looks Good To Me, Bishop Allen and Danielson Famile.
If you put a gun to my head I suggest things Spoon, Architecture in Helsiki, Of Montreal, Camera Obscura and Ok Go!
But it's still to general a 'genre' for me to help you with.. Give me a few bands you like and will work from there
(for instance, I consider Twee-Pop (belle & sebastian), Space-Pop (Grandaddy), Drone-pop (American Analog Set), US-Indie-Pop (Pixies), UK-Indie-Pop (House of Love) all to be 'indie-pop')
Theres so many good bands around at the moment, its healthier than its been for years.. and Indie pop is SO not half the bands mentioned above.. You need to talk about the following
Pocketbooks
Slow Down Tallahasee
The Parallelograms
CATS ON FIRE
Sambassadeur
The School
Horowitz
A Smile and a Ribbon
The Bobby Mcgees
The Cut-outs
Stars of Aviation
I looked at the indietracks lineup to see if i missed anyone important. (although Slow Down Tallahasee, Smabassadeur and Stars of Aviation didnt play indietracks)
Indietracks this year (both events) have been like this wonderful community of like minded people, the music has been exceptional and does stand right now at forefront of the indie-pop scene. Hence the majority of the bands on my list being at indietracks.
was gonna be reading about the primitives, early soup dragons, the field mice, another sunny day, etc and when i saw the words "the fray" i nearlly choked on my lunch!!
I saw gemma ex-babyshambles' new band the other day, The Krak, who despite having a terrible name, were alright for that kind of trashy guitar indie pop. And the lead singer's quite a hot girl, if that's your sort of thing.
Razorlight
The Arctic Monkeys
Goldfrapp
The Cure
Klaxons
The Fray
Good luck with them, mate.
.
if anyone found this post funny, could you please raise your hand?
*raises both hands*
*raises hand*
Only because he decribed The Cure as Indie-Pop.
aye
funny as in, i hope they were being sarcastic.
Sadly it's likely the other case and they are back to reading NME for all the 'New and Exciting Bands!'
hehe
*raises hand*
*feels a bit embarrassed for liking some of those*

Tilly & the Wall
I quite like
The Wombats. But then again I think the Feeling are OK too.
Hefner might be my all time favourite indie pop group. Darren Hayman is still pretty ace.
He is.
I spoke to him once. I was drunk. He wasn't. It didn't go so well.
I spoke to him a while ago too
when he was playing with his bluegrass band. I asked him whether he was going to play any hefner stuff. I don't know why. He didn't look too happy :(
I was also drunk.
I think perhaps
there's a lesson for us here.
the lesson being
don't like the feeling
they are awful
I spoke to him when I was drunk once too
he didn't seem impressed.
Lesson - don't talk to Darren Hayman when drunk.
"good indie pop"
an oxymoron?
just kidding, but its not for me.

Beulah <3
Download
the labrador summer sampler. It's around 60 songs, all indie pop, some of it is absolutely ace.
Also, check out the new jens lekman song 'friday night at the drive-in bingo'- pure indie pop joy.
Also also, listen to saturday looks good to me.
Held By Hands
are really good.

what do you mean Indie-POP
If you put a gun to my head I suggest things Spoon, Architecture in Helsiki, Of Montreal, Camera Obscura and Ok Go!

"Space-pop"
That's a newie. I always thought Grandaddy were "alt", although I am 30!
i'm 31
so there!
:)
so is indie pop...
basically mainstream-sounding indie bands, AND/or pop-artists who've been on the indie circuit (eg Tilly and the Wall, Kate Nash,...)
Im just guessing
but I dont think thats what they're getting at...
Think they mean indie-pop of this lineage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_pop
Rather than mainstream 'indie' bands with chart hits...
check out
the rosie taylor project,
try
the Postmarks !
Indie pop is the nuts..
Theres so many good bands around at the moment, its healthier than its been for years.. and Indie pop is SO not half the bands mentioned above.. You need to talk about the following

the list goes on and on...
CATS ON FIRE
is only written in CAPS because they're absolutely the best band on the planet right now.
aint that the trooof
No
You've copied and pasted a list from Indietracks' website, haven't you?
Ha.
I looked at the indietracks lineup to see if i missed anyone important. (although Slow Down Tallahasee, Smabassadeur and Stars of Aviation didnt play indietracks)

Fanfarlo are brillo! They're on at 12.15 at the Field Day festival on the Adventures in the beetroot field stage. Check 'em out!
Im guessing
you mean Indie-Pop in the spirit of C86 and The Pastels et al..
I quite enjoyed Strange Idols last single: www.myspace.com/strangeidols
Also as people have already mentioned, Los Campesinos and Camera Obscura are good and you might like Bearsuit possibly too..

in terms or razorlighty type bands
I saw gemma ex-babyshambles' new band the other day, The Krak, who despite having a terrible name, were alright for that kind of trashy guitar indie pop. And the lead singer's quite a hot girl, if that's your sort of thing.
Bloody hell
Things Members Of Babyshambles Who Quit Over Pete's Drug Habits Shouldn't Call Their Next Band #1: The Krak.
Razorlighty guitar bands
are NOT indie-pop. They are corporate, money grabbing, fame hungry whores with no integrity.
REAL indie-pop bands do it for the (admittedly clichéd) love of the music and the fun thats to be had amongst the scene.
If Indie-pop was in any way 'popular' with the mainstream then Stephen Pastel would be rightly worshipped as the legend he is.
twwwwwwwwwwweeeee
www.myspace.com/dyrdin
the only indie pop band of iceland
they are rather good and I am not at all bias in these matters..
