Savage Garden have split, and the band's Daniel Jones found out that the duo were no more by reading it in a newspaper.

Singer Darren Hayes broke the news without telling Jones. Jones said that his understanding was that he and his partner would be taking a break from the band to pursue solo projects.

Jones has started a small production company, while Hayes is launching a solo career and is gearing up to the release of a solo album, provisionally titled 'Spin'.

Jones told The Sydney Morning Herald: "I have always looked at a band like Eurythmics who have had separate careers within a band and we thought we could go along similar lines to that. We've both had a lot of success together. We'll probably have a lot of success independently in the future."

The phrase "yeah, right" comes to mind.

uh oh!

uh oh! one of my housemates is gonna be gutted!! she has a Savage Garden DVD and everything.

Re: uh oh!

it's such a shame when an excellent band splits at their creative peak.

still, we're talking about Savage Garden not Guns N' Roses, so it's all good baby. :)

Joy! No More Savage Garden

"Yay!", I thought, until I read the bit about solo careers :(

Re: Joy! No More Savage Garden

the whole band comprised of nothing but 2 solo careers in the first place...

ollie.

The culling has begun...

Isn't it all gleefully sinister how some of the crap bands of the past few years have suddenly split in the past few months? eg. Cast, Five, etc...

Who's next? Starsailor?! Hello Joe! ;)

Re: The culling has begun...

How funny. Hardy Ha.

Re: The culling has begun...

Oh don't take it personally Joe... you can't expect to be very open about liking a band in a place where most people seem to dislike them and not get the piss taken. At the end of the day at least I can respect you for sticking to your guns and you do write well so there!

Luv Al.
