nah

nothing for me on your list John...

but I'm still gutted to have missed Agaskodo Teliverek at la cité de la musique a few months ago...

radical face

are one of my favourites too at the moment. "Wrapped in piano strings" is amazing.

Lyle the Sleeping Years are amazing

I bought there second EP but they sent me a blank disk by mistake so I got a promo copy of the first cd for free! I've been listening to the first one loads... It's ace, haven't really got round to the second one yet, is it as good?
Thank you for recommending them in the past.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of

Promise and the monster or This is pop.

This is pop are great live

and Promise and the monster is a bit dark folk by number but I like her !

Second Sleeping Years EP is maybe just a little less great than the first !
Or maybe I haven't listen to it enough yet !

great bands that I recommend

Those bands are really cool, check them out and let me know what you think:

Silverfall - www.myspace.com/silverfallmusic
Madding Crowd - www.myspace.com/maddingcrowdmusic
No Machine - www.myspace.com/nomachinemusic

JAG

all good though

Gemma Quarterman sounds good !

Does she have a record out ?

Vicky Stuart has a great voice

but I'm not too convinced by the songs...

mrfist

wwwmyspace.com/mrfisty www.myspace.com/mrfistsuck haha JAG by me here

.

Bodies Of Water www.myspace.com/bodiesofwater
(like Arcade Fire, Polyphonic Spree, Delgados, Tilly & The Wall spliced together)

Breathe Owl Breathe
www.myspace.com/breatheowlbreathe
(Kinda Smog-like, but no songs from their cool new album are on their myspace)

Slaraffenland
www.myspace.com/slaraffenland
(Danish greatness. Listen to 'Polaroids first')

Wet Nose Hero
www.myspace.com/buysabear
(Lovely female singer. Joanna Newsom-esque? Probably not, but nice distinctive voice. I've ordered her cd directly from her for a pittance of a price, so am looking forward to that.)

The Young Republic
www.myspace.com/theyoungrepublic
(on End Of The Road records, really really looking forward to their album).

slaraffenland sound ace !

Denmark and Norway are where it's happening at the moment...

and The Young Republic

deserve I listen a bit more tomorrow...

time space repeat

are ace !

Aye

They have a download release out soon, look out for it.

Esiotrots album

is all I've been listening to recently it really is very very good. Everyone should buy it! Bargain at £5.

..

Of the above:
Fuck Button are really good.

Screaming Tea Party and The Sleeping Years, are potentially not bad for entirely different reasons.

Gemma Quauterman has a cool voice

Catherine Anne Davies is quite ace thanks for that.

Check these 5 out:

1) The Ghost Revolution
http://www.myspace.com/theghostrevolution
They have some very strong songs and are progressing in the right direction..

http://www.myspace.com/glasvegas
Making all the right noises who dares different from the majority and a strong lead vocal.

http://www.myspace.com/infarednet
Very cool band akin Interpol/Editors with whole lot more bite and less contrived. Probably the best unsigned band in the country.

http://www.myspace.com/thesatinpeaches
Hotly tipped to do very well in 2008 by some very influential taste makers and they are not wrong.

http://www.myspace.com/therossmannfristerproject

Just awesome one of the best outfits on my space or any other space. Inspiring!

the first 4 bands

are really bad and sounding like they could be on the NME before the end of the year...

the Total Drop sounds fun.

Would love to see them live !

and I think I need to find

that Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring single...

more

hmmm

Stab The Matador
www.myspace.com/stabthematador
(The Rapture-lite, but better in my opinion)

That Blasted Hound
www.myspace.com/thatblastedhound
(Folky singer-songwriter. He'll maybe give you a free album if you ask nicely)

High Places
www.myspace.com/hellohighplaces
(Think if The Blow did field recordings and less indie r&b)

buttonhead - peckham's deerhoof, or so spake plan b mag

http://www.myspace.com/buttonhead

http://www.myspace.com/tanaou

did you see these on the end of Phoenix Nights :D I found this funny, but they've got an alarming amount of gigs lined up - not sure if I could stomach a whole set of lancashire hotpots. have you been to see them?

new bands

therossmannfristerproject really grabbed me on the first listen, I just wish they had more tunes on the go on their myspace, does anyone know anything about them? i can't find any gig listings anywhere...

therossmannfristerproject

top band - can't wait to see them live

therossmannfristerproject

i've been looking around the net for therossmannfristerproject, mostly with myspace results and their blog says they'll be performing live soon, so i'll defo be checkin them out. there's a couple of reviews on their space too, all good stuff! these are ones to watch

great live

www.myspace.com/playgroundlegendband.com

saw this lot at the Dublin Castle, really great live show

I Like

Connan & The Mockasins- NZ band who sound like Sesame Street
http://www.myspace.com/connanandthemockasins

The Crisps- Painfully shy "school of rock" folk
http://www.myspace.com/itsthecrisps

Last Man Standing- Soundtracky Tom Waitsy
http://www.myspace.com/lastmanstandinggroup

The Brian Jacket Letdown- Folk Rock
http://www.myspace.com/brianjacketletdown

The Bookhouse Boys- Americana Surf Mariachi
http://www.myspace.com/thebookhouseboysofficial

therossmannfristerproject

They are from Sheefield. i'm lead to believe that they are currently rehearsing their live show and working on recording some new tracks. I think one of the tracks has been licensed on an compilation some time in the near future.

and Lyle! old chap the first 4 on my list detest NME with a passion as they are real bands not pretend bands. So when they are ready we DiSers will have heard about them first.

Beat the Devil

www.myspace.com/beatthedevil

Shine In Exile - song of year.

Sorry I can't add more to the list, but I really liked the band Colin's managing, too.

My 2 pence worth

Abe Vigoda Summery pop with an edge.

Young & Restless When their album drops they are gonna be huge. In the vein of BYOP

1QA They do an amazing Jeff Buckley cover.

The Shaky Hands Had this ablum for a good 4 months now and just can't stop listening to it. Incredible stuff. Album of the Year, IMO.

Play Pretty For Baby Heavier but clever. I love 'Presidents Day'. Great tune.

This Night Creeps Again, a little heavier, but they've got an awesome sound. Supported Blood Brothers.

OK

that didn't work. Links still work though...

Love,
www.myspace.com/deadhorsesmagazine

Tubelord...

Sound pretty awesome. Remind me of a more emo Ed Fitz. Great stuff. Will check out your other recomendations this morning.

yeh they are brilliant

new ep should be out pretty soon apparently, and i think they might releasing something on big scary monsters maybe next year. u heard the others yet??

check these out!

New bands? good question as I think theres some cracking bands out there at the mo. Some that have really floated my boat when I've seen them live recently / downloaded their tracks include:

http://www.myspace.com/theservantuk

http://www.myspace.com/serotoneband

http://www.myspace.com/theneutrinosinspace

http://www.myspace.com/guster

http://www.myspace.com/vantramp

All quite different but all really good. Check them out - and if you like my recomendations send me some of your own as we probably hav the same tastes!!!!

...

if that's the American Guster, then I'm sure they've been around for about 10+ years. If there's a new band called Guster, then they need a new name.

Check this out

I've just come across this girl Anusha, her old video is one of the featured videos on Myspace but her new video on her page is amazing! Anyone heard it? www.myspace.com/anushamusic

Cheers for the recomendations by the way guys I'm checking them out...
