it was probably the worst place on Earth you could have been. It sounds worse than the Somme or something.

Shoddy article
but in theory, it's a great idea, and I really hope they hold more.
no no no
i wasnt bad at all, it was pretty good really, sure it was like New Rave central, sure some bands were crap, but i'll tell u, the crowd was much much more into it than at field day
^
i have heard the contrary.
Apparently lots of "the kids" were just sat around, looking, well, new rave as you say.
I don't know/
The crowd at battles seemed pretty "into it".
Totally
remember the time you were too young to get in anywhere, but loved music? I am in complete agreement with stuff like this and bands like Fugazi who only play venues that will allow all ages in.
Good point
a great idea for kids. If they act like goons , they are kids afterall.
Err I went to this.
Only because I was covering it for a magazine. Lethal Bizzle was ace. But seriously, fuck off saying it was "worse than the Somme" you big disrespectful idiot.
For a 21 year old...
it would be a nightmare.
Shoreditch/Hoxton types in their skinny jeans all looking the same, running around pissed on the cider they stole of their dads
I think that's what they mean by it being bad.
I'm all for the kids having a good time, definitely, but for me, I would hate to be there.
what magazine where you writing for?
the thing is
i was reading that Artrocker special issue about this, and it was all bigging up killcoyne and wetting its pants self righteously about how important it is, and how the kids MUST BE ALLOWED TO SEE MUSIC!!!
all the while ignoring that in a hell of a lot of british cities there's no age limit on gigs. which is why i've been going to them since i was 13.
i think its a bloody great idea
i would have killed for something like this in birmingham as a teenager.
Instead we got seedy nights at the academy, and meh
Sure as im 21 id have probably got pissed off at tipsy kids and meh at all the generall youngness (i feel so old now) but if i was 18 id have bloody loved it.
And surely loads of kids watching battles and lotp and crystal castles and xerox teens = a million times better than them going see to Limpin Park or the twang yah!!!!!
I'm sure the 15 year old that runs it is propped up by labels or business' but i say yeah. At least it tells kids they can do something other than kicking a bus shelter in!
but notably, not in London
I missed some fantastic gigs because I wasn't 18.
maybe this is why
all london bands are so horrendous?
It sounds fine
if you're within the age bracket but I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Thankfully they wouldn't let me in anyway.
I'm within the age bracket.
But I always get into gigs. I just do my best to not look young and it works.
The bands playing were abismal. It'd be dreadful having the majority of your fans under 19, too.
Obviously, The Beatles were a little girls' band, but they were also everyone else's band.
havisham
the battles crowd at field day were hardly into it,
i was the guy most into it, everyone else was just like, bobbing they're heads a tiny bit, i was the one exploding at the killer guitar part in tonto
