just after 9.30pm and finished just before 11pm curfew. due to forgetting that the victoria line was shut, and then engineering works on the brighton line, we got home at 02.44. absolutely worth it though.
not (although i doubt there was room on stage at Cargo). most of the new stuff still sounded great but horns would have been ace. imagine them pinching prince's horn section, that would be the biscuit.
felt really intimate and new and old stuff all sounded good. A rather un-gentlemanly chap tried to grab a setlist from under my nose but I saw him off ;o)
the sound was perfect. just perfect. i've not been to cargo for a while & forgot how great a venue it is.
they played all the hits (well my favourites anyway). great night.
and I couldn't get tickets by the time he found out. Which was.. oh. Monday. Curses!
But we have free tickets to the next tour and I am looking forward to it now with such positive reviews.
Like I said, only familiar with Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga stuff, really:
Chicago
Beast
SS
You Got Yr Cherry Bomb
TNGY
DPlace
I Turn My Camera On
Paper Tiger / Black Like Me
JFisk / Rhythm and Soul
Stay
Underdog
EHAO
Way
Walk/ Back 2
I Summon You
Quincy (?)
They played Eddie's Ragga in their somewhere as well. The encore started with Don't You Evah and another couple of songs I don't know
Chicago at night before. Great opener.
Nice version of The Fitted Shirt at the end. Don't remember them playing Jonathon Fisk though? No Sister Jack or Japanese cigarette case either. No complaints here though. They were great!
i saw them last night
on veronica mars.

did they have
a horn section with them for the new ga ga ga stuff??
unfortunately
not (although i doubt there was room on stage at Cargo). most of the new stuff still sounded great but horns would have been ace. imagine them pinching prince's horn section, that would be the biscuit.
nope
But the keys had sampled horns, I think.
Good show. Roll on tonight!
What a great gig
felt really intimate and new and old stuff all sounded good. A rather un-gentlemanly chap tried to grab a setlist from under my nose but I saw him off ;o)
i'm off
to the states in a few weeks and seeing them in Austin...really can't wait for it now, hoping they'll have the horns in tow then!
I saw a guy run onstage for the setlist
Gave a running commentary from the other side as he was getting told off by the security guard.
Drunken comedy gold...
Yeah I was in the process
of politely asking the keyboarder for a copy and he ran on to get it. The bouncer next to us stopped him and handed it to me - ha!
^ rubes,
could you post the setlist on here ? maybe after tomorrow's gig so as not to spoil it for those going tonight. i'd be eternally grateful.
YES
No worries x
when
Mr Daniel sang They Never Got Soul (not previously a favourite) i felt like i was watching the ghost of John Lennon. then i was a bit pissed by then.
did anyone see the support?
it hugs back, bloody marvellous...

Had never been to Cargo before
Why isn't this used more? Great little venue and as previously stated a great sound and brilliant gig. No 'Fitted Shirt' or 'Utilitarian' though!
they have 3-4 gigs a week
just not big names... was just there for 6 organs of admitance actually.
seeing spoon tonight - much excited :)
I wanted them to play
Fitted Shirt as well! I was all poised in case they took requests at the end!
grrr! my friend's card got declined
and I couldn't get tickets by the time he found out. Which was.. oh. Monday. Curses!
But we have free tickets to the next tour and I am looking forward to it now with such positive reviews.
Who is going tonight?
Apart from meeeee?
Good set tonight
Even though I've only heard Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Britt's NME comment barely even needed to finish to get rapturous applause.

Not enough
people dancing. Otherwise great. I think the Borderliine is a great venue, especially for American bands.
Don't think I've ever seen them do
Chicago at night before. Great opener.
