New York-based trio We Are Scientists - I have a lovely t-shirt of theirs, with a cat on it - are to tour in November. Spiffing.
The band - who recently played at the Reading and Leeds festivals - are to play 20 dates in all, showcasing their as-yet-untitled second album. I bet it'll be called Cats, ARGH. Yup. It's due out in January, 'parently.

No London date?!
It's not fair
No-one ever plays London these days. All these American bands come over to the UK and think they can get away with just playing gigs in core markets like Skegness and Keele. But they forget they've got fans in other parts of the country too.
PS
I am genuinely disappointed, despite the "hint" of sarcasm in my previous post. I love W.A.S. - they're a superb live band and 'With Love & Squalor' was a great debut album. But I just don't think it's worth complaining that they haven't announced a London date - I'm sure that the reason is that they're planning something pretty big and spectacular for London in the very near future.
The only reason...
WAS aren't playing London, Manchester, Birmingham or any other city with an arena, is because they're supporting Kaiser Chiefs on their arena tour and don't want to overindulge the fans in those cities. It's one of the few times when I've been pleased that Leeds doesn't have an arena yet because it means that WAS get to play Leeds Met again!
Wah wah wah! fuck off.
I hate Londoners who complain they don't get enough gigs.
I have to travel about 2 hours to get anywhere near a venue.
ha ha ha
yeah... i live in london, moved here from the midland sticks 6 months ago, and i get semi-disappointed when a band doesn't play here... but then i think, CHRIST - there are great gigs on every night, so quit bitching!... i hope i dont end up like all the other londoners, all self important etc. I still head back up to stoke (Sugarmill) to watch bands play. i'm willing to travel for the music i love... and screw petty londonders who moan that a band doesnt play on their doorstep. here here! go to cambridge, it's like 1/2 hour away.
They like Universities
yeaaah...
it's almost as though they're popular with angular students. still undecided about this band... seen 'em a few times and i love his voice, so natural and yet manly, but all their songs are the same. heard a new one at leeds fest which blew my socks off though, sounded like one of those tracks you've known your whole life, like 'pretty good year' by duels.
I still dont get..
how/why this band are still going?
Like the Darkness, I hope it's just a blip.
because
they're pretty good?
Because
they're great. The Darkness weren't.
A band from abroad, playing a massive tour of rarely played towns
Another reason to like them.
yeah
that is quite nice of them. but a london date wouldn't go amiss.
W.A.S. are amazing.
I imagine no london show because of supporting kaiser chiefs in london :(
they never W.A.S amazing
.
Yay!
Oxford!
woo
derby!
you know
they might not be stupid. they might be playing london. it might just be a bit earlier than the tour. and it might not have been announced yet.
Wow
This is the second time they've played Preston now. No-one ever comes back to Preston if they can avoid it...
It's about time
a band did a proper University tour.
Not enough of them these days.
A Loughborough date would've been nice, but they've played there twice in the last 2 years. Most recently a couple of months ago, just before the NME show, so can't complain too much.
THEY'RE PLAYING HERE*?!
Colour me fucking surprised. It's a good time to be a third year student.
*Here being Bangor. We've got Go Team, Pigeon Detectives and now these guys in the space of a month. What the hell is going on, we rarely get gigs, let alone remotely decent acts.
bands are playing more random places
weve got we are scientists, hadouken! and vincent vincent and the villains coming up in derby
bands tend to forget about us smaller places. they always play nottingham grrrr
I'm also from near Bangor in North Wales,
and have lived here all my life. Having just finished uni in Leeds where there was a must see gig every second day, i think in Bangor there has been about one must see gig a year, if that. Good on them for coming, normally Wrexham Station is the nearest tour circuit venue, and most bands miss that as well. Random to see the Pigeon Detectives playing Blackpool Ballroom (Sold Out), and Time in Bangor a week later (not sold out and tiny).
To be honest, it's not even been that
First year, the only gig I went to was El Presidente (fucking atrocious). They fucked up their budget for the year having Rachel Stevens here, which no one turned up to.
Last year, there was one gig, again, I didn't go. I think it was Cord, or something...
But yeah, Wrexham has been the only decent place nearby for gigs. Some cracking ones coming up as well.
