Some troops out of Iraq special.

1 Municipal Waste 27
2 Pengo 21
2 culver 21
4 Astral Social Club 18
5 Silver Apples 16
6 Unwound 15
7 Times New Viking 14
7 Pumice 14
9 Cherubs 11
10 Daniel Higgs 10

excellent/10

Pengo is great if you like noise with acoustic guitars and people whooping. Silver Apples are great generally.

"Leaves Turn Inside You' by Unwound is a fine fine long album. If you like MBV and Fugazi and Sonic Youth.

pop + punk = awesome

Brand New 40
Jimmy Eat World 28
Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer 19
Finch 17
Hellogoodbye 15
Tellison 15
Fall Out Boy 7
Cute is What We Aim For 6
Anchors For Arms 6
Drop Dead, Gorgeous 6

Ever tried the Mr T Experience?

That's some good pop punk. It sounds more like the Ramones than the bands mentioned above mind you. Ted Leo is good and sort of in the same vein too.

Ted Leo is indeed great

prolific yet scarily consistent too.

I'll track down Mr. T, or at least his experience

Ever listened to the Travoltas?

Dutch pop punk with hands down the best 50's-style close harmonies and handclaps.

See also - the Plus Ones, who I think might have some connection with MTX???

Here's my Diana special

1 Tom Waits 69
2 The Smiths 30
3 John Frusciante 24
4 Madvillain 22
5 Daniel Johnston 18
6 Sum 41 17
7 The Knife 14
7 The Cure 14
9 Talking Heads 10
10 Magik Markers 6

Ive decided that I like the knife despite them being mostly a bit silly. that "14" is mostly just the last song off silent shout on repeat, though.

I love tom waits, as always.
I discovered the cure this week. Though it was all "in between days". I was thinking about getting the singles thing, as ive heard theyre a bit hit or miss. Good place to start, or should i just delve into an album?

Sound choices

Tom Waits was Diana's favourite singer you know. Is fact. Well, behind P Diddy obviously but he doesn't really sing.

My friend who has all the John Frusciante and RHCP albums has the Cure singles collection and he likes it a lot. So er, maybe buy that?

How are The Knife

"silly"?

dunno

they just sound silly to me. All that vocoder stuff. I dont usually like stuff thats so obviously "electronic", especially the analog sounding stuff.
Theyre really good though, and i love silent shout.

.

1 The Blood Brothers 31
2 Yourcodenameis:Milo 22
3 So So Modern 20
4 Marnie Stern 16
4 Hot Hot Heat 16
6 Tokyo Police Club 9

8 Chrome Hoof 8
8 Bonde Do Role 8

they;re a bit boring from what i've heard.

New Oceansize album, new Go! Team album....

1 Oceansize 58
2 Rival Schools 51
3 The Go! Team 33
4 Deftones 5
5 Jimmy Eat World 1

Rival Schools:

The band that would not die.
On last.fm.
Maybe that'll bring them back.

~

1 Beirut 152
2 Rilo Kiley 83
3 The Shaky Hands 58
4 Sonic Youth 28
5 Panda Bear 18
6 A.C. Newman 11
7 Belle and Sebastian 10
8 Rival Schools 6
8 Johnathan Rice 6
8 Castanets 6

7.5/10

I hope Johnathan Rice doesn't sound like Damien Rice, for his sake.

Rival Schools have managed to remain in people's charts all this time, tis quite impressive really. I might revisit that album.

Johnathan Rice is really good.

He's just on the right side of being MOR.

meh

1 Aesop Rock 29
2 The Clash 20
3 Midlake 13
3 Sly & The Family Stone 13
5 Steely Dan 11
6 John Cale 10
7 Talk Talk 8
8 Soft Machine 7
9 Faust 6
10 Gong 5

my iPizzle wasn't scrobbling for half the week, so this doesn't give the full picture. Aesop Rock would definitely have had a lot more plays

You're living in the past,

That Kanye West Daft Punk song

completely blows whichever way you listen to it.

I'm getting that Unwound album

you probably won't even read this.

Enjoy.

I care

1 The Trashies 26
1 Magik Markers 19

5 MV & EE With The Golden Road 13
5 Black Lips 13
7 Lamborghini Crystal 11
7 Lamps 11
10 Wooden Shjips 10
9 Tyvek 10

Almost exactly the same as last week. The Trashies are so much fun, I'm really enjoying their stupidity. The new Clockcleaner album is great too. Their bass player added me as a friend and she is pretty hot for an older woman. Her face is all beat up though at the moment...

The Chills!

Fantastic list.

The Chills appear to making some sort of revival

but you didnt notice them in my list your bitch :O

sorry!

I think the whole list just caught my attention - MV & EE, Magik Markers, etc...

Yeah!

the Chills are awesome. I was inspired to listen to them after watching the Flying Nun documentary on Youtube.

I thought that said

"Cockcleaner"

I wish

-5/10

for implied rudeness.

I had a listen to a couple more MV/EE Golden Road tracks. "I text messaged you" :(

I know!

I think that song is one of the stronger on the album, but every time I hear it I cringe.

/-\-1/-22 /1- /10

Good stuff. I hope John Wiese doesn't suck live cos i'm going to see him on Sunday. His cd 'soft punk' wasn't very enjoyable so I don't hold out too much hope. Good job there are 7 other bands on.

I'm tempted to see him on thursday

But it so far away and would have to work 18 hours the day after. Although am interested in seeing Lamborghini Crystals and Birds of Delay as well...hmmm

Aye

it's more the bands he's playing with that i'm interested in. Wouldn't mind seeing those two just for curiosities sake. Up here he's playing with Jazkamer and Tight Meat etc

:(

So several bands playing Colour out of Space this weekend? Sigh...well...i'm going to be all cultured and go theatre on saturday instead of noise in brighton. Sigh

That looks good

the festival I mean. Plus it's really cultured. It has...er films

8 Interpol 9
9 Arcade Fire 5
10 Jimmy Eat World 4

Are you being sarcastic?

I don't like the Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Tool, Interpol or Arcade Fire, so this chart is kinda unrateable. It's just not really my bag. Billy Corgan is a douchebag and Tool are boring as owt, but any other comment would be based on a very small amount of knowledge.

/10

was i being sarcastic?

sadly, no. But I was trying to hide my need for acceptance behind sarcasm, so well done there

It's the last.fm thread
