Ok, you start with the ball here. You can throw it to other people on your team. You run to the other end of the pitch. You can drop the ball 4 times, then the other team get a shot. Go.

It's about 10000 times more interesting then Rugby.

Although frankly I have no idea why.

That's pretty ignant. Outside of chess, it's the most intellectually and strategically demanding game.

And since in the US, gaining access to playing in the league actually requires players to go to uni and do something, it's probably the sport with the highest number of players at the top level with higher educational qualifications.

I know there's one guy who plays for Green Bay who severely disappointed a few hospitals...

ok, LOL

i'll admit now i'm no expert on the college football system and stuff, but just because some 6"7 lump of muscle got a sports scholarship to go to college so that he could run into other lumps of muscle does not make him intelligent, just strong and maybe fast too.

MAYBE there are some who could have goine onto intellectually-demanding careers like this guy-that-could-have-been-a-doctor, but seriously?

and 'intellectually demanding'? do you mean for the players, coaches, or fans? sure theres loads of stats, and different plays that involve said lumps of muscle running in different directions before one of them throws it at them, but really?

Gutted. So I'm not the only one who gets inordinately interested when they see a non-American playing American Football?

I think Beckham missed a trick. He'd have a far better career in America as a field goal technician than playing for the LA Losers.

absolutely not the same game !

But the only ( so far ) french guy to have played for the NFL played rugby ( at a small level ) before going to an american university !

I know they are very different...

but a player like Jonny Wilkinson with his kicking ability would have been welcome.

Several Aussie Rules footballers have made the change.

Was offered the chance to play out there at one point but decided to stick with rugby.

the bank balance a lot more interesting though. Perhaps it would be a good move when a rugby player is moving into the end of his career.

at Wembley in October, it's going to be great! I'm a Dolphins fan anyway, so got lucky with the teams playing. We're rubbish, but I don't care.
