doesn't look as good as past years in terms of bands I know, and there are a hell of a lot of awesome brighton bands that didnt even get a look in (as happens every year I suppose), but it should still be really good.
Come see me play at the Pressure Point on the Monday (24th September)!
Tuesday : -A+M at 10:00 @ Red Roaster - a bit like Papa M, the David Pajo side project - really nice dual acostic guitar stuff
Wednesday : Ack Ack Ack at 8:30 @ Prince Albert, then run to Everyone To The Anderson at 9:15 @ Engine Room (both totally rocking) then for something completely different The Mojo Fins at 10:00 @ Water Margin (wherever that is) - they lost their guitarist in a car crash earlier in the year, really sad - good to see they are carrying on - really lovely swirly guitar pop
Thursday : Jacobs Stories at 10:00 @ Red Roaster - like the Thom Yorke piano songs - brilliant
Friday : Lonely Ghosts at 8:15 and Epideme at 9:00 @ Audio - Tom from Help She Can't Swim's dancey solo project, and my very loud friends
I don't know the answer. Two of the twice players are Jacobs Stories and Aaron King, and in both cases, I'm guessing one will be a solo performance, and the other a full band. Still, and despite both being really good, I'm not sure I agree with it...
As for Doll and the Kicks playing twice, well that takes the piss. They must have a VERY enthusastic and talented manager, they seem to play EVERYWHERE and the local press talk about them all the time. I won't get into this rant about the Brighton local press again!
I can't believe we didn't get a mention in the "hot tips" section. Actually, in all honesty, I can. Silly people.
When's the notThursday Jacob's Stories one? I'm kinda targetingthe Lord Spiritual, Duke Raoul, Shall We Set Ben On Fire show @ Audio on Thursday but still wanna see JS (yes, too lazy to look on the website)
I don't often make silly mistakes, but I've just been asked by one of the members why I slagged off Doll and the Kicks, and after looking at their myspace it looks like I must have mixed them up with another band after thinking I saw them at an all dayer last year then just kept the opinion thinking they were this band.
but one of them is a 3 song acoustic set as part of the Sailor Jerry sessions thingy (upstairs bar at Audio) - so I don't think we've really squeezed anyone out who might've played. :os
pretty awesome. I really want to check out Lonely Ghosts, The Tumbledown Estate, Peggy Sue and the Pirates, Ack Ack Ack, Zettasaur and Pope Joan. Granted I live in Brighton and see all these days week in and week out its still going to be an awesome week. And it's free!
awesome

can i ask
how come some people are playing twice?
that doesnt seem fair if - as you say there are bands that applied to play who are not on the bill?
yeah it does seem unfair

It's definately gonna be a good one this year!
We will be living it up innit!
Yea I will be going to at least a couple of the gigs.
From my point of view there's a notable omission
...but I won't start going on about that. :)
You should see La Momo and Lords Spiritual though. Oh yes.
I love Brighton live!
It just reads like a list of all my favourite Brighton bands.
4 or 5 Magicians
Cat The Dog
Heels Catch Fire
The Hat
Peggy Sue & The Pirates
Transformer
Maths Class
Lonely Ghosts
Mechanical Bride
I Say Marvin
Hurray!
will definitely
be seeing The Hat.
I love this festival.
First year playing it, so very much excited.
Derek Meins
The ex Eastern Lane vocalist. Check him out!
Yes!
Pog, The Lovely Brothers and Flesh Happening are all playing. If you haven't seen any of these bands then you should.
