Breaking news: the rumoured Led Zeppelin reformation show, pencilled in for November 26 2007 at London’s O2, is now confirmed.

The band is to appear at a tribute show to Ahmet Ertegun. Who he? Ertegun founded Atlantic Records in 1947. A mentor to Led Zeppelin and many other acts, Ertegun’s own fund – the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund – will benefit from the November show’s proceeds. The fund provides students with annual scholarships to universities in the UK, USA and Turkey. Additionally, after the event a new scholarship for aspiring musicians will be created at Ravensbourne College, here in the UK.

Led Zeppelin will headline a bill including Foreigner, Paulo Nutini (the final artist Ertegun worked with in his 60-year career), Pete Townshend, and Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings. The hard-rocking four-piece – pictured in their heyday – will be made up of original members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, with late drummer John Bonham’s son, Jason, manning the kit.

Tickets for this Harvey Goldsmith-promoted show are a cool £125 a pop, with fans needing to sign up for them via a special website. Click here to visit the Ahmet Tribute website. Tickets will be allocated on a ballot basis due to the expected demand, and this is the only place they are available. Two tickets per household.

Robert Plant said of Ertegun, who died last year:

“During the Zeppelin years, Ahmet Ertegun was a major foundation of solidarity and accord. For us he WAS Atlantic Records and remained a close friend and conspirator - this performance stands alone as our tribute to the work and the life of our long standing friend.”

£125!!

Stuff that.

Wait

I'd love to, but the Shout Out Louds are playing that night =D

WHERE?!?!?!?!

I like the fact that the tickets

are limited to two per household. I presume that if you wanted anymore you wouldn't be able to afford to eat for that month.

Holy

crap

could be cheeky

and buy another house.

NO! Wrong date!

I'll be on tour :(

Hmmm

I'll be in England in November, I think I'll apply

I would kill to go to this

but i don't think I can go :(

i must

go to this

anyone else

having trouble with registering? erm i mean the website seems not to be working/loading....

£125

Cheeky bastards, I know its for charity but 125 quid ! They may as well put Barbarararararara Striesand on the Bill and charge £500.. they can shove it up there arse's..

Not for me but...

Do you reckon they'll have Phil Collins on drums? Arf Arf

No they'll have the gorilla

Arf, arf, arf.

I wish it were April 1st

this = jokes.

fuck

that

Any chance..

for a photopass DiS? ;o)

LOL

no.
x

maybe you're thinking of

john entwhistle?

"John Bonham died. That means no more Zeppelin."

"Well, can't they just get another drummer?"
*stunned silence*

but why?

i really want this to be good

but think it will be shit. despite the charity aspect (i'd be interested to know how much actually finds its way to the colleges etc), these reunion tours are just cash ins for bands like zep now (also the who, stones, police etc); £125 a ticket is fucked. plus jimmy page looks like an old chinese woman now

DIE HARD FANS

TO ALL THE EEJITS WHO WONT PAY THE 125 FOR SEEING THE GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME FOR A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY WAKE THE F*CK UP!!
YOU CALL YOURSELF TRUE FANS I BEG TO DIFFER ON THESE STATEMENTS
SAD SAD SAD DEMENTED PPL IF YOU ASK
WE SHALL BE THERE IF POSSIBLE LAPPING UP EVERY MOMENT AND IT WILL BE SOMETHING TO REMEMBER TILL THE DAY U DIE!!!!

Whole lotta greedy bastards

Parting with 125 quid to see Plant croak his way through the high notes would probably send me to my grave. WHY THE CAPITALS AS WELL ITS RUDE TO SHOUT

..

No Bonham, No Zep

the song: remains the same

the price: subject to inflation

^ Brilliant

It'll be out on DVD in time for Christmas anyway.

no one mentioned the most disgusting thing...

...paolo nutini is playing on the same stage as led zep. There must be some kind of a law against that?

greedy charities

and greedy led zep for trying to make money for charity. £125 seems reasonable for a one off gig for charity as they could probably charge £1000 and still sell it out. And if you've heard Robert Plant's recent albums you shouldn't be concerned about his voice.

??

So when did it become acceptable to charge £100 + for gig tickets ? If Led Zep were'nt such lazy bastards they could have done 4 or 5 nights in the same venue charging 50 quid a ticket and making more for their charity. The demand is clearly there.. And as for charging £1000 and still selling it out, well maybe but not exactly morally acceptable is it, maybe they should remember how they got where they are in the first place..

they're pretty reasonably priced

i think bruce springsteen, madonna and other acts charge similar prices on their massive global tours.

Tourplz.

Also, Atlantic was pretty much a soul label. As if all the bands playing are horribly unsoul.

Booker T and the OMGs should be doing it.

None of those links are workin'

Texas

Hi. I'm from Texas and though it will cost me a ton of money that frankly I don't have, I registered for a ticket and am hoping I'll get one! I LOVE LZ! More than anything! However, I've never been to the UK and am a bit frightened by another country! Do you'll dislike people from the US (I sure hope not)? If not, I really need help if I get a ticket that is, about the UK, I know nothing! For example, how do you get around London, walk, cab? Any advice will help!!!!

Yeah

we really hate Americans, especially Texans! Just subdue your accent and you'll be fine. ;)

Thought so!

That sux! I'm my accent isn't really bad at all though. Especially compared to other Texasns! Thanks for the reply!

the Zeppellin can still rock it

yeah, john's gone but having jason play is still as good as it can get. the tickets arent that bad, it's the damn flight to London. you can find cheap flights here to almost anywhere, but not the U.K. LZchic, you'll LOVE it over there, it is a lot of fun. Just go crazy!!!
