After you peel off the inevitable stickers that say "THE BEST NEW BAND OF 2007!!" Or those horrible stickers that go right over the top of the case, sealing it together. They never come off in one piece, and the residue is like a fly trap.
There must be a way to get pristine jewel cases.
warm
soapy
water
sellotape can work
sometimes too, stick it onto the sticky crap and pull it off
mmmm...
I would have thought that
acetone or something similar, would do the trick.
every now and then
go to a computer shop and buy loads of blank jewel cases for a discount bulk price. Then simply go through your CD's and replace the shoddy boxes with brand spanking new ones. Its quite therapeutic and is like housekeeping for your record collection!
furniture polish
works well
WD-40
No joke. It absolutely nukes sticker residue in double quick time.
Oh yeah and I'M BARRY SCOTT!!!
CILIT BANG GETS RID OF THAT PESKY CD STICKER RESIDUE IN NO TIME! JUST WATCH THIS!
i use
nail polish remover, never fails
.
Methanol

tell me about it, those ones that go over the top, generally on american imported indie CDs. i'm currently painstakingly removing little bits of crappy plastic sticker from two gallants' 'the throes'. i hope it's worth it
.
this happened to me today, it sucks 'cos one second you're holding a new cd and the next it looks crappy
worse things happen at sea though eh?
I like topics like this
MAKE DO AND MEND.
This is ace:

i just leave them on
any attempts at removal normally end up in frustration and the shattering of the case as it collides with the wall.
Many years ago
I tried Olbas oil. For some reason. Really. It seems to melt plastic. Don't try it.
I'm probably the only person who has ever done that aren't I?
i use
if its the ones across the top, the stickers themselves. you dab it on real fast and it picks it off gradually.
it takes a while.... its fun...
Stick something else
on it?
