Mine likes Dusty Springfield, Buddy Rich and a load of old hymns, and anything she considers wholesome.

I just know that with Tony Christie at number one she'll be saying to my Dad "see this is what the kids want, good old fashioned harmless fun".

Neil Young, Flaming Lips, Wilco (she calls them Wilcos though), Dixie Chicks, Tom Waits, Dido, The Presidents of the USA, Norah Jones.... unfathomable.

anything that's not too "raucous" she doesnt like Slint, but likes Sigur Ros. She likes Wind in the Wires, but not Lycanthropy. she also likes coldplay/turin brakes etc. and (evil horrible horrible) kd lang. eeew.
she used to be a rock chick (went to see led zep, the who, black sabbath, hawkwind (!)) but her ears have evidently become more delicate.
also, for some inexplicable reason, she hates the beatles.

my ma likes the pixies, velvet underground, radiohead, kasabian, lloyd cole, magazine among many others.

My mum likes, Feeder, The Eels, Super Furry Animals, Nick Cave, Nick Drake, Blur and others.
Oh and I got her to like Tom Waits and Dressy Bessy.

My Mum likes Bryan Adams, Keane, Franz Ferdinand (or that scottish band who were on channel4 news as she refers to them) Bruce Springsteen and Oasis.

At least she seems to have moved away from the Chris de Burgh phase of a few years ago.

I played my mum the Tindersticks once and she told me they sounded like Chris Rea.

The tindersticks lost a bit of their magic for me that day.
