Hi all,

Help! I desparately need to see a good live show when I come home from Qatar, where live music does not exist.

I will be in Germany from 30 December til 7 January. I was wondering if anyone in Germany had any idea of gigs at this time? I have looked on the net, without much success... ta!

You poor, poor thing

Until two weeks ago I lived in Dubai - where culture hardly exists - and had to travel occasionally to Doha, where culture is completely non-existent. I wouldn't go back to Doha if they paid me...
In berlin there's fritzclub
http://www.fritzclub.com/
but Hamburg is the best city in Germany for live music.
there's

and

Last.fm

is always a good place to find out. Go to events and search by city.

Perfect!

Thanks very much. Here's hoping that Bjork, Joanna Newsom or QOTSA hit Deutschland at that time...

PRIS are playing in BERLIN! You can co incide it with our

new found friendship.

I don't think we will be there then, tho. Talk to Mortgage Boy. He's da Berlin Correspondent.

cologne usually has some good gigs.

www.kartenhaus.de is the equivalent of ticketmaster. To be honest I'd be surprised if many bands are touring Europe around christmas time though.

last.fm is all you need

yeah really bad timing, berlin is your best bet, last.fm city search the only thing you need! (I live in Leipzig at the mo)

If you're in Munich,

check out The Atomic Cafe - I saw all kinds of bands there during my year in the city, everything from The Concretes to a secret Babyshambles gig - http://www.atomic.de/programmf.html

Another interesting small venue/club is Prager Fruehling - I once ended up singing onstage with Chris Chinchilla (ex-Art Brut) there!
http://www.prager-fruehling.de/

Bigger venues are the Muffathalle http://www.muffathalle.de/
or the Georg Elser Hallen
http://www.georg-elser-hallen.com/

Finally, if your German isn't too hot (or even if it is), check out the messageboards on Toytown, a website for the English-speaking community in Germany
http://www.toytowngermany.com/

Hope this helps!
