(i guess now

we know that they've probably been v. busy and thats why xmas updates havent been forthcoming?)

...

David Cross, Patton Oswalt and Henry Owings will be emceeing at the May ATP!

tobias funke

at the A to the T to the P ?
nice.

good to see he wasn't put off

by the barracking he got at the sleater-kinney one last year. clowns.

atp announcements! exciting. i was hoping for one april, one may a la this year - is it possible pitchfork will curate both, with different line-ups maybe? either way, doesn't look like the atp-atp-primavera five-week blowout will occur again next year. boo.

this is my 1000th post. it's only taken what, four years? slowest DiSer ever.

chunklet atp?!

yessssssss.

Really?

That would be great (especially David Cross). I've always thought it would be great to see some stand up at ATP. Perhaps they should get Stewart Lee to curate one year?

yes!

todd barry is brilliant.

any news

who the other curator is yet?

if they're a week apart

like they used to be, does anyone want to spend the time inbetween in minehead? :D

lolz

I did the 2 weeks in a row last year, followed by Primavera a week later. My body and wallet hated me for ages.

Maybe not in Minehead

but a gallivant round the Southwest is definitely something I'd consider. Or maybe just a Zummerzet cider tour. All aboard the Scrumpy Train!

the countryside around minehead

is really great, it's the Exmoor national park. Also the South West Coast path starts in Minehead - on the other side of town! in May we went for a 6 hour proper country walk on the Saturday, missed Current 93 but saw some spectacular scenery, it starts just after the town ends... just sayin' :-)

yup brooner off here

did that run on the saturday morning, the insane person, at about 5am.

current 93 were interesting at the time. and now i've properly listened to their records i really want to see them again. damn me.

they don't play often

so it was a bit special but I'm not immersed in their world either, used to own a record of theirs years ago which I quite liked but that's it. And there were so many other bands worth seeing it was ok to miss them and have some fresh west country sea air...

you could

try and just stay on site at butlins and mingle with the chav families!

i feel so sorry for the staff

who live on site, some of them we chatted to were really nice and LOVED not having the evil chavs of the southwest fighting and fucking on the hotdog stand for a weekend.

plus one quite townyish guy who worked there said he loved Einsturzende Neubauten, which is awesome.

haha!

everybody should love Blixar and friends!

I'm not going to have the money for three months

don't all get me too excited too soon!

how do you think i feel?

this'll get announced tomorrow and work are blocking me from being on here to talk about it!

AAAARGH

who are chunklet, by the way?

i see them mentioned around here a bit - who would they be likely to have on the bill if they were curators?

i'm determined to make one of these after missing the last two and this years nightmare. shame they are both gonna be in may, as my wallet will be pretty bare by the time primavera week is over, but hey-ho.

the

first one is 9-11 may - atp vs pitchfork - on sale at 3pm

scrap that

on sale now

Sebadoh, Ween, Man Man, Dirty Projectors,
Glass Candy, Pissed Jeans, Fuck Buttons, Apse, Caribou, Los Campesinos, Of montreal.

Bye bye lazy river

And it's back at Camber Sands Pontins.

oh

yeah - it is at camber sands.

wouldn't want to go unless there's a lazy river

Early doors

Super. Dooper, in fact. And I assume from the mostly meh lineup thus far that P4k haven't picked any bands yet...

y'd assume wrong

CHOSEN BY PITCHFORK:

DIRTY PROJECTORS
OF MONTREAL
CARIBOU
MAN MAN
GLASS CANDY
LOS CAMPESINOS

Well

That shows what I fucking know/assume. Of Montreal are an interesting pick seeing as they invariably give their alubms 6 out of 10. Well, 6.3 anyway...

Anyone got any idea of the relative capacities

I'm worried this is going to sell out really quickly. I'm pretty surprised they have gone back to Camber.

3,000 i think

and somewhere between 5-6,000 for minehead.

hmmm

i reckon that sounds a bit 'meh'. i'll wait for weekend two to be announced, minehead is a fuckload easier to get too for me than camber anyway.

Not that excited about the lineup yet

They usually wheel out a couple of the big acts with the initial announcement but with the exception of Sebadoh (and maybe Ween) that's decidedly B-list.

I'm guessing they've got more confidence in the other curator, although the idea of going back to Camber is very tempting.

really?

i dunno. i liked the size of camber but i always thought it was pain with the electricity tokens and what helped make atp vs the fans was the water slides etc at the swimming pool. atp vs pitchfork hasn't grabbed me yet, mainly because all the bands that i'm interested in on the line up i've already seen in some capacity.

Aye

Camber Sands is a fucking gulag. While Minehead has its drawbacks (motorway service station vibe), it trumps Camber on all counts but accessibility, and that only applies to those of us who live in the south-east anyhoo.

I am keeping 'em crossed that the second weekend is a rerun, cos Pitchfork will deliver, I am sure...

Interesting

I actually live about 45 mins from Minehead and agree that it has better facilities. I dunno though, having been to at least 1 atp a year since 2002 Camber holds a certain nostalgic value for me and I was a bit sad about never going to another ATP there. I just liked the shabbiness of it all. Having said that I've only been to the Thurston one at Minehead which was a shambles organisation-wise, waterslides or no waterslides.

I have no interest in going to Camber again

But i like that they are doing one at each site to keep everyone happy.

Aren't we a patient bunch?

Like, no one (or hardly anyone) has written something along the lines of I THOUGHT BOTH MAY ATPS WERE GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED ON FUCKING FRIDAY!!!??! HURRY UP, Y'BASTS

I wonder when the silence will be broken.

keep it camber

for the spring ones and minehead for winter.

minehead's kind of spoiled us all now so going back to camber will be grim but wont be so bad in spring!

pero,

think how amazing it'll be bowling back into the Queen Vic...'pint of kronenburg please' then cotching in one of the nice corner seats, maybe doing a bit of kareoke, watching the grand national/football on tv, everyone dancing like lunatics till 6am...can't wait!

Minehead is classier

but Camber will always be for me the real home of ATP. I have huge memories of those events.
Pity I'm not so interested in this line-up so far though.

Never mind that...

Seriously. Who's doing Weekend 2?

m.

updaaate

THIS FRIDAY WEEKEND 2 ANNOUNCED!

This Friday we will be revealing who the curator will be for weekend 2 of ATP in May.

We will have a handful of names to reveal that have confirmed for weekend 2 aswell and we will be announcing 6, maybe 7 bands that have confirmed for weekend 1 too.

Have you worked out who the curator of weekend 2 is yet?

Worked it out?!

What, based on the torrent of updates and hints we've had since two Fridays ago. Y'know, when you said you were going to announce both curators...?

Oh well, at least we'll be put out of our misery soon: it'll probably be someone like Gene.

P J Harvey?

Would be nice.
Or Oldham.

mike patton please

with bjork, isis, melvins, circus devils, dalek, ennio morricone, fantomas, hella, kaada, mouse on mars, qui, the locust, young gods, unsane, dillinger escape plan, john zorn, melt-banana, merzbow, subtle, rahzel, massive attack, sparks, tomahawk, amon tobin, neil hamburger, eyvind kang, handsome body modeling school, foetus, yoshimi & yuka!

Is it Ned's?

Is it?

Dumpy's Rusty Nuts

are doing the bingo in crazy horse apparently

with a list like that

i'm hoping it's jamie summers.

amon tobin?

as in Ninja Tunes most average artist?Do you actually love everyone on that big list of yours or are you just trying to be cool?

i listed every artist

i could think of thats connected to patton. but actually yes, most of the stuff on that list is amazing.

'Worked it out...'

Yep, I thought this was odd. I thought maybe an East/West thing with Pitchfork/Camber and ?/Minehead. Amoeba Records maybe?

DiS innit.

Diver's disappointment thread was a classic smokescreen...

i hope not

Radiohead @ Minehead

wut wut?

It's

this article posted on: Wed., October 17, 2007
Hi everyone,

We are incredibly excited to announce that we will be curating and playing the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in 2008 (weekend two). The following bands have confirmed so far...

Broken Social Scene
Iron and Wine
Dinosaur Jr.
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead
Adem

We have compiled and submitted a list of over fifty bands so there will be a lot of additions and confirmations to come.

The festival will be held in the UK from May 16 - 18.

For more details and information and explanations and tickets please go to www.atpfestival.com

Okay. Thanks for caring.

Love,
Explosions

Oh dear...

Camber it is!

that really does suck

big balls.

If that is true

then that is the awesome.

Wooooooo!

Hang on

Have I just fallen for a prank?

This could be a first

I'm not feeling so much as a ripple of desire to go to either of these weekends.

Well you lot can all stay at home

and listen to Oxfucka bootlegs.

I'm going to be in the lazy river, then having my face melted by Mascis.

and it actually is

explosions in the sky. interesting. good choice on adem.

Damn.

Well I won't be going to weekend two then...

Yup

Just a pity about the choice of Explosions in the Sky.

Seriously. This makes me think the ATP formula may be dead.

^ *a reply to stella_thediver

Obviously...

one bad choice

(which it may not be, and many people dont think it is) does not mean the formula is dead. thats just silly talk.

All right then

The ATP formula has a bit of a limp.

That better?

maybe a stumble

but probably not. cos its always awesome, see?

Dear ATP

please ask John Reis to curate sometime. Thanks. x

Anyone care to hazard a guess who EITS might pick?

Stars of the lid, I mean they're the same sort of thing and from Texas. They've got to be mates right? And maybe on the Texas thing we could have a Pantera reunion and Ornette Coleman. I could die happy then.

How do I get the replies to start on the left again?

It's getting awfully tight down here.

Wow I never knew

And I've been leaving my pointless comments on here for a while now. Thanks.

3/4 of Pantera

Obviously.

they got

lift to experience signed.
thus, we can pray for josh to get them back together

i'm hoping for fridge

adem's already playing, and EITS supported four tet on tour a couple of years ago.

at the end of fridge's green man set adem said it was probably their last gig "for a long time", but who knows? would be ace.

also, they're both on temporary residence in the US. (see also mono, envy, cex, grails - further possibilities?)

only because they were quite delicate

and you couldn't actually hear the sound. The only way I could tell that Adem was singing is because I was close enough to see.
