No click-on, click-off lights: Metronomy stripped of a vital aspect of their appeal. Shorn of the visual side of their child-like electro – that’s no disrespect, FYI; more a comment on the simple joy that’s conveyed by ‘Radio Ladio’ – the Londoner/s (delete according to opinion/last encounter) has/have to rely solely on their beats and pieces to impress. And succeed they do, just.

Clinical though it is – in a manner similar to Hot Chip – ‘Radio Ladio’ will fill a dancefloor with cheer with great ease. Vocals are loose, vague – something about the theft of breath; the music that skitters about them tweaks and bleeps in the right places; and the combination of squelching keys and stutter stabs makes for three-and-something minutes of perfect ‘discerning’ club fodder.

It ain’t gonna change your life, and it can’t match the impact of Metronomy in the live environment, but ‘Radio Ladio’ is a neat and worthy addition to DJ playlists already rocking to the tunes of DFA 1979 and CSS.
