Rick |Gervais is a comedian for people not really into comedy
The Office did and always will leave me cold.
go on then I'll bite
Why is Ricky Gervais a comedian for people not really into comedy?
well he's the sort of person people in jobs too busy to look beyond the obvious
really soak up because they're 'too busy to think'. You find me an Hedge Fund Manager or Tax Lawyer who's a massive fan of The League Against Tedium for example?
Point made no?
Actually I think I've
had this discussion with you before and recall you coming out with the same twaddle then.
Prole has always had this agenda against him.
Quite annoyingly he always calls him Rick too.
Quite clearly.
I do hate all comedy, I don't laugh at anything, I buy 5 albums a year from Tesco and read FHM.
That's why I like The Office.
Its not me picking at you silly
I'm on about people I've met who i find disagreeable. Rick Gervais is terribly unpleasant to look at as well
I knew you weren't
but the fact that 'Tax Lawyers' like him doesn't necessarily make him unfunny. He's very quickly becoming unfunny, but The Office was/is an amazingly written and acted and very funny sitcom.
Well that was the work of Steve Merchant who really DID work in a Call Centre
Rick Gervais, by being married to the commissioning editor for comedy at the BBC probably doesn't have to try too hard. also the stand up circuit hate him for shoehorning himself on the 'scene' but at top level having never done it before the Office. And let's not mention The Simpsons episode..........
Yeah forget the Simpsons
And I genuinely believe that Stephen Merchant is the funnier, better bloke, but without Ricky Gervais The Office wouldn't have been anything. Simple as that.
I like Extras alot as well
I can see why people wouldn't like him, I have no problem with him.
Me too.
I've laughed out loud on quite a few occasions, by my book that means I like it.
Stephen Merchant is amazing in it.
Seen the trailer for the Christmas special(s)?
I haven't
I'm gonna have to keep an eye out. Merchant is very funny.

that's what my mate says about coldplay
Haha.
That moment in The Scientist, 2:34?
Yeah, me too.
gervais has done a lot with the talent he has
but come on, the office is immense, and gervais has a big role in why its brilliant. and as for gervais shoehorning himself in, who cares? I am bang into my comedy, and I find it a complete irrelevance that other comedians might resent gervais. srsly, who carez? and who cares who his missus is? if the office had been shit, it wouldnt have become a global phenomenon. he was just in the rigt places at the right times, and then took that opportunity with the legend that is merchant, to deliver something worthy of the opportunity.
I agree.
Who he is, or what he does is totally irrelevant.
The Office is propbably my favourite sitcom of ever. There's NOTHING bad about it.
Last night I actually rewinded that Tim and Dawn bit and watched again. So perfect.
Its a bit arrogant
to claim that if you like him you're someone who's 'not really into comedy'.
I am really into comedy. And I think the Office is great, not so struck on his stand up. End of.
I like The Office
And you know what? I like his stand-up as well.
I liked Animals and Politics.
Wanted to go see Fame, but never got round to buying tickets.
We have strength in numbers in this thread!
Ive just put series one on...
The quiz episode is so cringeworthy.
i FUCKING HATE Finch.
