I've heard a couple of tracks that I thought were quite good, cant remember what they were called im afraid though. Sorry for being rubbish like that.

check out "this beard is for siobhan" off rejoicing in the hands... for witty, cute lyrics and insect eyes, also off rejoicing... for his more emotionally direct music. its even got bass on it and everything.

its very pretty, and lovelily played, but im sure he can irk people.

I quite like him, I like the style of it,. I like the imagery and the lo-fi-ness on some of the recordings, but I don't think the songs themselves are really that amazing a lot of the time. And that's what really matters with this kinda stuff I guess... T-Rex's "these children were fair and had stars in their hair" is the template for the whole thing really, and it's loads better.

The one song that got me into his music was At the Hop, my obsession grew from there.

might try and go see his folk collective or whatever it is at the sage in gateshead.
from what iv read hes not a million miles away from iron&wine style folk ...and the sage is meant to be a great venue.

or is this a silly thing to do

      GO!

buy rejoicing in the hands and niƱo rojo do it now. its more newsom than iron and wine though both are wikid. test out this is the way and at the hop for these are my favourites.

    hmm

more like Marc Bolan singing vashti bunyan's songs, really

I'd check out sufjan stevens if you are even slightly tempted by this 'new' folky stuff, seven swans is a fantastic album, really great songs, with great arrangements
