Id say Queens of The Stone Age are by far the best rock band of today (and yesterday). Their historical evolution from the stoner rock family - Kyuss and other desert related rock bands makes them even better in mine eyes. Josh Hommo is a way under-rated guitarist even tho he's abit of a wank. I never understood why the change of line-up was needed? Lasy year they had a concrete fucking stone line-up: Nick, Josh, Mark, Joey - there where three singers then. Nowdays however, we dont really know whats what with qotsa! Is Lanagen still a part of the band? Whos this Troy dude? Why is josh the only 1 that sings in the current line-up?

hmm...one of the best rock band would deffinately be clutch theyve done it all and have remained constantly ahead of the pack, plus neil fallons tales of obscurity and the bizarre put them in a story telling league of their own.

The Big Bang - unsigned but totally fucking brilliant Birmingham based band. They will be big. Soon. Guitar lines that pierce your brain and screaming vocals that put the blood brothers to shame.

Also Faith No More and Pearl Jam are very good Rock bands, but obviously arent "at the mo", although i dont think PJ have split up yet? anyone shed any light?

the best rock band in the world at the moment, in terms of what looks, feels and sounds like my idea of a great band, would be NIN.
i challenge anybody to put forward a person who is more of a Rock Star than Trent Reznor at the moment

Eighties Matchbox and DFA1979 are both rather good, but DFA have yet to prove whether they are just one-trick ponies, and perhaps the same could be said of EM (The Royal Society was kinda like a bigger version of HOTD rather than a whole new direction, not that it isn't great)

If so, the best rock band in the world are Tool, no-one else comes remotely close. I like a lot of bands but this year, Tool will prove once again that they are the best band in the world
