Oft-political, indie-folk singer-songwriter Chris T-T has announced an album deal with London-based label Xtra Mile Recordings.
Due in the new year, Capital will be T-T’s fifth studio album, and the third part of a trilogy of albums centred around London, after The 253 (2001) and London Is Sinking (2003). In its original form (pre-2005 bombings), Capital was intended to focus on a fictional terrorist attack on London and the subsequent response of the government, though T-T opted to take it back to the drawing board, instead releasing the politically-charged mini-album-thing 9 Red Songs.
Whilst you (and indeed, I) wait patiently for the album, a new EP, This Gun Is Not A Gun, is due November 19th and accompanied by a string of UK dates. Said EP will feature two versions of the title track, plus 'The Day The Earth Stood Still pt 1' and 'In The Dressing Room'.

dammit.
he'd so win.
great news !
fucking Chris T-T
ruined my Truck festival by being fucking shit billy bragg wannabe.
you're an idiot
I would normally justify such a statement, but I don't think you warrant it.
wisdom is a cunt
not just my opinion but his mum's too.
Oh God
Yes. I can't fucking STAND Chris T-T.
funny,
he speaks very highly of you.
Wisdom is an idiot?
I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking Chris TT's songs are carbuncles on the arse of music. Also, his website is christt.com, which suggests a slight jesus complex, and bothers me more than it probably should.
strange
I think i t's weird you get angry about a decent unusual songwriter instead of one of the 1000s of inane crappy twats out there who have NOTHING to say and sound the same. Get some perspective, even if tt writes songs you don't agree with, in a style you don't like, why get upset about it? And if your just offended by politics or a bit of treehugging, you could admit that's your problem and criticise more honestly.
Is it?
But I think Chris TT, to use your own phrase, is a crappy twat. I don't think he's a decent songwriter, though he perhaps could be called "unusual". He's distressed me greatly every time i've had the misfortune to hear him live, which gives me MY perspective. Gosh! Drowned in Sound members in musical disagreement shocker!
well
good for you, that your driven to tell us all what you don't like, and you prefer things generic than not to your taste. I wish there were more like you on here.
Ha ha
Did i say that? I don't think so. Not liking Chris TT means I like things "generic"? Christt!
utterly
fucking moronic
he ruined truck for me too, nearly
Personally
I found Chris TT highly entertaining at Truck, due to his quite astonishingly bad lyrics....particularly that countryside song were he urges for more state violence against protesters.
I don't think
you can have listened to the lyrics to that song properly FHG. Either that or you haven't understood them.
That song (The Huntsman Comes A-Marching) is an expression of anger at the pro-hunt yobs who hijacked the Countryside Alliance march in 2002, making it all about "their bloody sport". They took attention away from the other important issues which many of the marchers wanted to protest about - for example, the closure of village Post Offices - and that's why T-T says they deserved what they got: "They were such a bunch of thugs the police arrested more/Than when 2 million normal people marched against the war."
And the people trying to pretend that one artist playing for 30 minutes could ruin an entire music festival for them need to grow up or have their nappies changed. At a festival you can always go and see something else if what you're listening to is too polemical for your taste.
Sigh...
We were exaggerating for effect. Of course he didn't ruin Truck, I just fail to see any merit in his music. There is a place for polemicism in music, I just think that if Chris TT could do it a lot better and be less odious, people might be more willing ot listen to his lyrics. He irritated me a lot at Truck, and yes I could have gone elswhere, but he was on the main stage and I had a comfy seat on the grass :)It does seem, however, that all his supporters seem to be singularly lacking a sense of humour and resenting of a discussion on a frickin' discussion board. Ho hum.
Oh
well if you'd only said you were exaggerating for effect at the start then this thread might have read like a discussion instead of a succession of stupid remarks.
What effect were you trying to achieve exactly, besides exposing your witty hyperbole and smug exasperation to those of us who failed to grasp your hilarious rhetorical mode?
oooh get you!
Chris TT is still rubbish though.
I am no match
for you untamed wit. Will you be back next week?
Jomper..
you have only posted 3 times on DIS all supporting Chris TT on this thread. Therefore I have deduced that you are either Chris TT, his mum or a computer virus. Sadly Norton's computer software can only eradicate one of the three.
So, Sherlock...
...the possibility that I'm merely a casual DiS visitor who was sufficiently dismayed by the stupid comments on this thread to register my disgust has entirely escaped you.
