Reading some of the comments in another thread, it made me think about a weird street name where I used to live, called 'Straight Dykes'. It always used to make me giggle whenever I passed.

Current favourites where I live are 'Rock Edge' and 'Crotch Cresent'.

So, funniest street names/ places where you live?

Cumming Estate

i'm sure i saw this out the bus recently.

There's one

off Tottenham Court Road called Stephen Street. IndieLOL.

Brain Close

in Hatfield is quite good. Faggots Close is even better though.

oh yes

and Ferdinand Street, where the Barfly is. I expect that gets grafittied a lot.

Temperance Alley

it's in Ardwick, where the prossies hang around

somewhere in london there's a

Gropecunt Lane.

i kid you not.

:)

you heard the lady

^^ Used to be a Gropecunty Lane in Oxford

now it's called 'Magpie Lane'.

Crotch Crescent is one of my faves too.

ha ha

as that's on the side of either university or oriel college, I can see why they changed it!

I think in the 13th century

There was a road called Gropecuntlane. Which was favoured by prostitues. Beat that.

Beat what?

...

You don't figure they called it that BECAUSE it was favoured by prostitutes, no?

Also: Butthole road. There's a great picture on my PC at home of some residents standing next to it disapprovingly.

There's a street in Leeds

called "Football".

Not Football Street or Football Lane, just Football

:D

Gordon Street?

Ah, yes, Gordon Street. I use to know a girl who lived there, when I was young. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that girl and the promise that I made which I will always keep. That one perfect day on Gordon Street. That's uh five blocks up, two over.

:D

I know it's a small part, but we can do better than this.

not funniest

but my best friend lived on 'severus avenue' when we were younger, and the harry potter books came out, and i refused to speak to her i was so jealous. i'd still kind of like to live there.

There's one by St James' Park

called Petty France.

Also off the Old Kent Road there's one called Asylum Street. How apt!

OI

i used to live off the old kent road

You do walk into

these things, don't you :)

:S

I work

in Petty France.

Poultry

Savage Garden

somewhere in The City

*Gardens

The Hoe, Watford

and Faggotts Close, Radlett

What's it called?

i live one street

away from good street and ironically it is really fucking shit...like not even just average but properly wank.

Squeeze Guts!

Polstain Crescent is another of my favourites. Not funny in itself, but the sign keeps being changed to Poostain.

Bleeding Heart Yard

was always a favourite.

Wild Street is good too - home sweet home.

i work near

Melody Lane
and
Rock Street

which is nice. \m/

cockburn street

The Grove

Way-ey man!

Other Road

in redditch. kinda sums up the imagination of the populace

West Dyke Road

or Thrush Road

When I was in New York

Last Week, I found a road called People With AIDS Avenue.

Upmarket Street

and its a shithole

Within a mile of me there is

Twatling Road, Fockbury Road and Mearse [me arse]Lane. No word of a lie there is also a part of Belbroughton called Bell End.

Christmas Pie

Not a street, but an area, which includes Christmas Pie Avenue! :D

hmm

in Hull - 'The Land of Green Ginger'

in York - 'Whipmawhopmagate'

A street in Leeds

is going to be called 'Chevy Chase'.

i was gonna say

whipmawhopmagate but then got distracted by gropecunt lane...whipmawhopmagate being distinctive for having the longest name of a gate but the shortest actual substance to it...good cheap sandwiches from that shop though...

'Pusey Street'

If only they'd used that for the Only Fools and Horses theme

"Long Live Pusey Street
C'est Magnifique, Pusey Streeeet,
C'est Magnifique, Pusey Street...."

Raw Dykes Road

In Leicester. Near the football stadium. No connection I guess.

Letsby Avenue

Horny Old Road

in Malvern, a few of my friends live on it
