hmm

interesting.

holy fuck!

link to more info?

i'm repeating what

someone said on the festie forum...

It's the weekend after the Camber one

the link's already in See Tickets.

FUCK

why can't it be about 3 weeks after the Camber one :(

That line up looks amazing already, too.

Wow.

Is this the later one?

if you lie

i rape you

Damn!

You beat me to it summers...

Andy Rocket will be SO pissed off...

I've already got my ticket for the Camber one.

i'm getting camber tickets

when i get paid, fo sho.

the camber lineup

is more appealing to me, only because all the bands on the explosions one that i like tour quite often and i've seen.

not that i won't go of course, but i hope they have some more adventurous bands lined up.

Yes?

ooh

definitely gonna go to this one then.

it's better than Camber

you bellend.

I disagree

The chalets are fucking amazing. The facilities are fucking amazing.

But, the journey's more expensive and more annoying and in terms of getting to see bands, it's just not as good.

I will suffer a crapper chalet experience for a better musical one.

the only problem, musically at Minehead

is the fact that there's three stages, you end up missing some bands. You still get to see as much music, if not more as you do at Camber. Also, the main stage isn't great at Minehead but it means you get bigger bands playing and it's not that bad.

Dunno. I just didn't find it as good

The whole queuing thing for bands in the upstairs room was rubbish. I like how at Camber you just went upstairs or downstairs and most times you didn't even have to miss anyone.

there was only

problems with queuing last year though.

I saw long queues for Joanna Newsome at the Dirty Three one

and for another band. I know that a friend didn't see Battles because of it.

Yeah, if you go really early for the upstairs room then you'll be fine. I'm just saying it can and did happen this year. The upstairs room cannot hold everyone but that can't happen at Camber hence I preferred Camber.

those are isolated examples

and really just bad booking choices rather than widespread problems a la nightmare before christmas.

interestingly in newsom's case i seem to remember there being capacity issues when she played at the 2nd United States of ATP one last year cause again she was playing in the smaller room. which makes me wonder if she asks to play the smaller rooms...

Hmm. I thought the issue was that she turned all the aircon off or something

I remember coming down and finding the people coming out of the door but they were still able to see some. I don't remember people who wanted to see her being totally shut out.

I guess the downstairs room at Camber doesn't seem to have only half the site's capacity like the Minehead room does

I've had to queue at Camber in the past

and seen plenty of people miss bands in the downstairs room. Plus the upstairs stank of hotdogs and the carpet was sticky. Shithole.

but I'll probably go to the Camber one this year

but EITS are so fucking dull.

I only remember queues for Lightning Bolt

because of where they played and how it changed the room.

I remember the downstairs room getting very very rammed but you could still catch some of the stuff at the edges.

I remember queuing for The Fall (i think)

outside, in the freezing cold. You can squeeze down the sides but you can't actually see anything.

the second

stage at Camber is fucking useless though.

they only had 3 stages

at the first minehead ATP. they had two at the ones this past year.

I agree with Tom, what are you on about

There were three at both this year:
Main Room
Upstairs Room
Reds

Only the main room could take the entire festival capacity.

hey

you're totally right. i completely forgot about reds :(

It's okay, sounds like I'm wrong about queuing not happening at Camber too

It never seemed to be as much though. :(

depends

if shellac or lightning bolt are playing!

ohh nooo!!!

how dull.

'xaactly

will probably get better but it inspires nothing but yawns from me.

big names!!

i actually know them all!!! what's with that?

cos

ATP has totally sold liek woah d00d.

shyt it totes has

i'm blates never going ever agian now an ting

shit band

good taste

Tickets. When. Where.

Need to go to this. Need to secure tickets NOW.

They're not on See until tomorrow apparently

and there's no way this will sell out.

Just check WeGotTickets until they come up on there.

I wouldn't worry

I predict this one might sell quite slowly.

Not if I buy all the tickets

and have the biggest party of my life...

(pretends the wedding doesn't exist for a mo*

Is that the sound of ATP flatlining?

I'm going to add my voice to the chorus of people hoping there are a few more left-field* choices announced soon.

*Obviously this is relative, in case any pendant points out that none of these are TOTP material.

my opinioney

explosions in the sky: meh
Broken Social Scene: meh
Iron and Wine: new album is ace, so could be great live
Dinosaur Jr: ace every time.
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead: not 5% of the band they used to be
Adem: meh

i'm sure it'll get better tho

still, 6 more bands announced for camber tomorrow :D

broken social scene

are amazing live. will it actually be them though?

doubt it

it's PROBABLY them doing brendan canning's solo album, which is out early next year.

i heart bss

but at the last atp they played at, my mate said they were meh as they had such a scaled down band so the sound wasn't as great/immense as when you have 12 million guitars etc.

at camber last year

they had between 8 and 11 people on stage at all times.

someone lied to me!

heck I'd still see em anyway.

Yes

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

IS THIS TRUE?

OMFG

Whoa

Is this for the Minehead one?

I need to go to this.

Sprays man yog

everywhere.

HYPERDULL

why all the negativity

all those bands are good, dinosaur jr just get better each time I see them (loads better than footage ive seen back in the day) BSS always good, trail of dead a bit past it but heard recent tours have been great, Iron and Wine ok maybe a bit dull but lots of people think hes special, and explosions in the sky are probaby the best out of the melodic generic post rock bunch

solid

but nothing out of the ordinary

i'd like to go to both, but will need to find willing roomies

there s no mention of this

on the explosions website.maybe its been removed or didn't exist in the first place

hi!

buenos estente

good stuff

swish

i have a non-DiS friend who will likely want in on one as well.

brill

jo is out (finals) so i'll be a lone wolf

wow

that's sure to be a steaming pile. at least i'll save some more money for barcelona and primavera.

does this announcement mean

everyone is going to buy their tickets for the pitchfork one?
i can't be doing with it selling out in the next week or so. i need to find some friends.

seriously, explosions in the sky? come on.

I'll be there - 100%

not sure about the pitchfork one though yet.. but i haven't missed an ATP for 5 years now so will see....

i prefer the old site too... not as nice, but i still prefer it...

SO THERE.

Dino Jr, Trail of Dead and fucking EITS.

Sorry, that wasn't the 'cool' reaction was it.

also

i have a stomach ache.
my usual excitement levels are malfunctioning.

Makes sense

With the cancelling and we'll make it up etc.

Best not be a wind up as confirmation of this will make my day tomorrow.

to be fair

there does seem to be a substantial opinion that ATP is some kind of noise / super avant garde thing, when it isn't really and never really has been.

EITS??

Just don't get it... They just seem so functional and so predictable to me. Post-rock by numbers. And surely they're not that well-connected? The Dirty 3 aren't famous but between them have collaborated with so many artists. Who would EITS have in the contacts book. Hoping it's not true.

up until about two years ago

it was always a lot more left-of-centre than this though.
which i think is the point everyone's been making.

also

"than this"?

again, i point you everyone towards this: http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/2504386#r2505104

oh god

I nearly freaked out then, seeing Bonnie Prince Billy on the line-up for 2002, and trying to work out why I didn't see him. But he dropped out, didn't he? DIDN'T HE?!

He only played one of the weekends

It was the same lineup but the first one (which I went to) gave you Smog and GYBE and the second one had Melt Banana and BPB.

oh yes

I remember now. GYBE were bloody great, Smog not so much. Even though I still love him.

i'm

glad there is so much bitterness over EITS. Nothing like a good bit of tension.

In my opinion, they are one of the best ever bands. Even better than the Beatles. So there.

If you don't like them - don't go. But at the end of the day, there are plenty of other bands playing. so stop grumbling!

If it was Sigur Ros curating, having picked Dinosaur JR, BSS and Adem - everyone would be wetting themselves.

I hope mahogany play.

"If it was Sigur Ros curating"

????!?!?!?!?!?!?
what??!?!?!?!?!?
how does that work????"?!??!?!?!?"!$*"Uiuhrkh
that would be even worse!!!!

exactly

and these bands play ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
i'm not going to spend £120 + travel to see the bands i would want to see, when i could see them playing 15 minutes down the road when they next tour.

also, ADEM?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
get his smug, over-earnest face away. FROM EVERYTHING.
