I was chatting with a buddy who said he saw him open for BoH and the Decembrists and said he stole the show.

I've put him on my Used Bin Wish List, but maybe I should upgrade him, eh?

DiSer impressions of Andrew Bird, live and recorded!

Brilliant

My favourite currently active singer-songwriter by far.

The best whistler since Whistler's Mother

I would also recommend checking out Kevin O'Donnell (with or without the Quality Six). He is a sometime Andrew Bird collaborator - a bit more of a jazz type style which sounds awful... but isn't!

I've only heard one song

heretics

When I first heard it (about april) i literally played it about 20 times one night, alternating with one arcade fire song. I should really get an album.

heretics was used on a radio 4 advert. on radio 4!

He is, in short, wonderful. Jens Lekman has usurped Mr Bird's place on my earphones of late, but I'm a fickle so and so

fantastic

Armchair Apocrypha (or however you spell it) is one of my albums of the year.

He's incredible but

Koko is surely a horrible venue to see him at...

Apothryca

Is a great album. Shame the BBC use some of it, because no hen I listen to it I can help thinking of BBC adverts.

get the mysterious production of eggs and armchair apocrypha, RIGHT NOW

and then get weather systems and the swimming hour and all the live eps. k? k.
i'm seeing him in glasgow in just over two weeks. you have no idea how excited i am. NO IDEA.

also,

my favourite takeaway show so far:

Is he just a voice and a guitar,

or does he have a fuller sound?

I'm always put off singer-songwriters because of people like Sufjan Stevens and Elliot Smith.

he plays violin as well.

and loops instruments and vocals, but still manages to come out of it pretty rock'n'roll.
in short: wonderful.

rock'n'roll

sounds more promising.

No, because they are.....

.........awful.

:O

Bloody hell

I think i need to have a sit down and re evaulate what has just been said. You dont like Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens? BLIMEY

That's right, sit down,

take a deep breath, throw any cd's you own of these artists in the fire, and relax.

sufjan stevens and elliott smith

both have albums where they do a fuller sound.

but as others have implied above

he isnt like them anyway.
