take a limo to pick him, Gervais and Merchant up...drive them around for a while letting them get all relaxed and then just drive into the sea, sacrificing myself for the greater good
The format, althought wearing a little thin, is brilliant. Pilkington says something ridiculously stupid, Gervais does an over the top laugh, repeat. Its hilarious for some reason.
My favourite bits are, somewhat obviously maybe, Monkey News. The way that later on they'd start taking the story apart before he'd even finished = comedy platinum,
facebook application to have a random Pilkington quote on your page...about three of the people I regularly nose on have it and it makes me so angry...
He can't be so stupid to have started as a technician on xfm, but to claim that if he met his exact twin he wouldn't know which one he was. Still hilarious stuff though!
Pilkington: stupid reply
Gervais: GUFFWA FWA WA FWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Merchant: sneer
Pilkington: nah, nah, but even stupider reasoning
Gervais: GUFFWA FWA WA FWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
repeat for five hours
Piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them.
I've only seen him on the extras of the 'Politics DVD' I was sent to review. If it's anything like that he comes across as the proto-typical 'Sun reader'.
comment I think he was better on radio, seemed more natural and I think he has used all his best gags on the old xfm shows and is just regurgitating them now (much like Gervais and Merchant)
I'm well aware there are a lot of people who read the Sun and don't fall into that category.
But what I'm saying is that I can't really see why he's great. He just seemed to be spouting narrowminded, whatever-ist rubbish under the guise of it being 'comedy'.
i hate the fact its no longer cool on wanky forums like this in dis to like ricky gervais, yes hes annoying and undoubtedly arrogant, but hes funny. Karl obviously plays up to his reputation as a bufoon now as you can see easily if you listen in chronological order to the shows. in repsonse to a couple of comments above, its not hard to be a radio technician, im one and im thick
Who cares if it is exaggerated stupidness? It is bludey hilarious all the same. Found last night's thing quite interesting, in an obviously set up for TV way, but it did hammer home how much I dislike Will Self, even if that was a big put on as well..
I think it's either a massive put on or he was always a bit like that and then people started finding him funny so he started to self-consciously act more like that to get a laugh. That was pretty funny last night.
I think he's genuinly pretty ifnorant as to what's going on in the world, but he is fairly intelligent in the way that his mind actually works. I don't think it's all fake, but perhaps he exagerrates his lack of knowledge sometimes. There's something about him that I quite like. Although I've listened to the podcasts, because I don't know how.
either way
I HATE THE WHOLE FUCKING THING
^this
Absolutely can't fucking stand him
I would happily
take a limo to pick him, Gervais and Merchant up...drive them around for a while letting them get all relaxed and then just drive into the sea, sacrificing myself for the greater good
haha
the Curb
theme tune would soundtrack all this...fucking meet Larry David now Gervais
Nah man its brilliant
The format, althought wearing a little thin, is brilliant. Pilkington says something ridiculously stupid, Gervais does an over the top laugh, repeat. Its hilarious for some reason.
I agree
I don't want to like it but I can't help it. It IS funny.
Gervais constantly just tells you how funny he is
and in the end youre sort of convinced he is. His phrasing of things and "insights" are brilliant.
...
My favourite bits are, somewhat obviously maybe, Monkey News. The way that later on they'd start taking the story apart before he'd even finished = comedy platinum,
^ i'm sat laughing at this
over sheer memory of the last time i heard such a scenario.
He's GOT to be faked
some of the stuff he came out with on those later podcasts was just... amazing. Too good to be true.
massive put on.
it must be. I'll check with wikipedia though.
is he brian from big brother?
about
6 million times worse
HURRRR
speaking of that
lump of mong, he's almost disappeared off the face of the planet hasn't he?
put on
100%
He is real
I remember him being on Tim Lovejoy's old XFM show back in 2000 or so
there's a
facebook application to have a random Pilkington quote on your page...about three of the people I regularly nose on have it and it makes me so angry...
Massive put on
He can't be so stupid to have started as a technician on xfm, but to claim that if he met his exact twin he wouldn't know which one he was. Still hilarious stuff though!
Real
And that programme was brilliant. Him and Icke came off brilliantly. Will Self looked like a twat. He's very likeable, Pilkington.
Gervais: remark plucked from wiki
Pilkington: stupid reply
Gervais: GUFFWA FWA WA FWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Merchant: sneer
Pilkington: nah, nah, but even stupider reasoning
Gervais: GUFFWA FWA WA FWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
repeat for five hours
Piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them, piss on them.
^^^ My new DiS hero
Genuine
but I don't think he translates well to tv.
If he's genuine he translates perfectly
as a total cock.
I think it loses
a lot on tv
In what way?
I've only seen him on the extras of the 'Politics DVD' I was sent to review. If it's anything like that he comes across as the proto-typical 'Sun reader'.
ignoring the tired 'Sun reader'
comment I think he was better on radio, seemed more natural and I think he has used all his best gags on the old xfm shows and is just regurgitating them now (much like Gervais and Merchant)
I am obviously talking in stereotypes, though. Hence the quotes around the term.
I'm well aware there are a lot of people who read the Sun and don't fall into that category.
But what I'm saying is that I can't really see why he's great. He just seemed to be spouting narrowminded, whatever-ist rubbish under the guise of it being 'comedy'.
Funny and strange
observations mainly plus an interesting outlook
series 2 and 3 of the xfm show are hilarious
i hate the fact its no longer cool on wanky forums like this in dis to like ricky gervais, yes hes annoying and undoubtedly arrogant, but hes funny. Karl obviously plays up to his reputation as a bufoon now as you can see easily if you listen in chronological order to the shows. in repsonse to a couple of comments above, its not hard to be a radio technician, im one and im thick
^^ some of this
Who cares if it is exaggerated stupidness? It is bludey hilarious all the same. Found last night's thing quite interesting, in an obviously set up for TV way, but it did hammer home how much I dislike Will Self, even if that was a big put on as well..
So cynical about TV these days.
I'm not sure.
I think it's either a massive put on or he was always a bit like that and then people started finding him funny so he started to self-consciously act more like that to get a laugh. That was pretty funny last night.
I saw Stephen Merchant this morning
at Shepherds Bush tube station. He's the world's tallest man.
Oh, and Karl Pilkington - real, but stylized
I watched that thinjg with him last night.
It is definatly a put on
if you listen to the xfm shows, they then repeat themselves on the later podcasts with it seems no knowledge of mentioning it earlier.
that's just recycling old jokes though
who?
