Hello!
I'll start as usual by apologising about ze jag.
My bands new single is out in a couple of weeks (26th Nov to be precise) - you can here it through the usual channels:
www.myspace.com/loveendsdisaster
Its out on This Is Fake Diy Records, which is actually a pretty neat little label - they've just done a single for Bolt Action 5 which was an awful lot of fun
We'll be supporting Damo Suzuki at the Nottingham DiS night on Sat, along with the wonderful Napoleon III, amongst other unbearably exciting news - I've just been told Mr Lammo gave us a spin on 6music today, and we'll be on john kennedy over the next couple of weeks, as well as Annie Macs Radio 1 houseband on sunday (its a terrible show, but what the hey).
Anyway, hope you enjoy it, please spare a few of your pennies if you can and help us keep writing noisy rubbish for a few more months!
X
Hey well done!
Will keep an eye out for this down at the indie store.
it gets my vote!
x
ahh
thanks guys!
oh I forgot to mention - we're at the Good Ship next Saturday (17th), so if you're bored and Lonely and, er, in Kilburn, pop along.
i will not be bored
nor lonely
nor in kilburn
and i have two seperate gigs i should be at already.
but, y'know, BUMP
oops
I didn't mean you in particular Jordan, lolzz. I meant, like, EVERYONE, innit.
yep
was just a friendly bump. just like this one. BUMP
I reviewed it
for FuseFM in Manchester.
wut
did ya give it?
I dunno
I don't think you need to hear an amateur student radio station reviewer's poor attempt at constructive criticism.
lol
I guess that means you didnt like it then.
of course i dont need to
but y'know, that dont mean i dont want to. its like sex, eating spicy foods and hogeying.
OK but don't hate me
"Nobody delivers nothing particularly new quite like hotly-tipped emerging British bands, and the brace of songs on this double A-side single suggests that Love Ends Disaster are no more than just a proof to that particular tragic rule. Some interesting progression says yes yes on ‘Dinosaur’, but the gratingly loud mixing and brutally maximalist drumming says no, no, no."
(no rating system at Fuse by if they did have one I would have given it a 6/10).
Feel free to take issue, it's by no means my best or most reasonably-argued work.
We don't hate you... we love you...
Heh! Each to their own. I didn't realise we were 'hotly tipped', but that's very nice of you to say so. :)
I don't understand the 'loud mixing' comment, couldn't you have just turned your stereo down? ;)
All in all though thanks for the comments, positive and negative views are always appreciated. I'm just happy that you though we were worthwhile reviewing.
Well
if those quotes on your myspace and that (I think they were on the press thing for it too) are true, you are kind of hotly-tipped...
My problem with the mixing was more that it didn't really leave any 'space' between the instruments, especially with the drums the way they are. Although listening again it may just be the drums that are too loud.
But yeah, cool.
mm
some fair comments, and 6/10 isnt a bad score. id have given it 8/10 but each to their own..
I like the artwork
for the single. Done by the moscow himself! Kinda classic looking. I think the track has a classic sort of sound. Could linger a while I bet. Certainly more than all the trendy crap around these days!
The artwork
does actually rule.
Looks like something I might do! (seriously the whole drawing-on-photo look... totally my style).
i can understand the loud mixing.....
a lot of the stuff from rain studios is, mostly because they've got such high spec kit. i remember the first time we put ladders on the system in the pub (firebug), it was deafeningly loud.
thats what you get from using a modern state of the art million pound recording desk kids.......
oh, yeah and the LED single is fucking ace also.......
LED!
just did a show for liveroom.tv as well. Will probably be up in a week or two. :)
Yawn
Urgh, expensive studios.
Pointless? Depends on the style of music actually, but for most guitar-based music, yes.
erm,
it wasn't that expensive. its just pretty good.
hahah.
thats the beauty of it, it really wasnt that expensive. they just have good kit.

we've had pineapster bands launch demos from home pc recordings, to stuff from rain. and frankly, often the radio wont play the home pc recordings.........
and
huw stephens played it last night on his radio 1 show
BANNED ON RADIO 1!!!..............Kind of
So last nights events come to a close,
Annie Mac's viewers decided that they'd sooner have an instrumental funk bands jingle than one filled with cats, death, pulp fiction guitars and explosions!
No biggy, but what is amusing is that the producers refused to play our original jingle because we referenced nuclear warfare (not PC in Englands current climate of terrost activity apparently!) As far as I know sunday evenings is strictly for board games, family bickering and maybe, just maybe, a glass of sherry (since we're approaching that time of year).
SO
We've decided to put the two jingles online for you to have a listen to. Make of it what you will and bring on another censorship debate! Scroll down to the 'FREE DOWNLOAD' button and type in the code. Easy peasy.

ORIGINAL JINGLE
Congrats to 6 Toys who won, I assume we wouldn't have had anymore family votes with our original jingle though. :)
DIX II
So Love Ends Disaster
are now officially punk rock.
But...
the drums just don't sound good on it. They're too... full on, for me. I feel they compromise the melody somewhat.
A jingle .....
made in a bedroom. That took us a good few hours sir! You and the drums (sigh) :)
That was a reply to the earlier post
it just got shunted down cos of other stuff. But yeah. I agree, I am being quite precious about your drums.
