yes

amazing

but are they as good

as Bronski Beat???

They're like

a bad Walkmen.

What?

That's ridiculous.

They're this:

"Breezily leftfield world-pop from these much (and rightly)-hyped New Yorkers. Like Paul Simon raping a swan owned by Jens Lekman inside a tour bus rented from The Unicorns as it drives past David Byrne’s luxurious country villa. And if that isn’t a mental image/list of esteemed artists that makes you want to go out and listen to this, then I don’t know what will."

That's a review I wrote of their last single.

Yeah, that's right

They sound nothing like The Walkmen. They sound like Paul Simon raping a *swan*.

Haha

It was worth writing that controversial review just to read that sentence.

I didn't like them all that much

when I briefly saw them. Nice chaps though.

they were supporting you in Brussels

they were OK-ish.

PS: I'm the guy that gave you some advice on where to go in brussels...

Saw them last night

supporting the Shins in Manchester.

Bloody awful in my opinion. To me, all their songs consisted of hitting one note repeatedly on a keyboard. Can't even remember the rest of what they were playing.

The Shins were ace though! Have a good night! :D

You are wrong

That is not what their songs consist of.

I walked past that gig last night walking home from the cinema. Eat it, Shins.

Well...

I got there hoping that the rest of their stuff would be better than that single Radio One is bumming, but I felt disappointed.
They sound like a group of toddlers let loose in a local musical instrument shop.

Is that really

such a bad thing?

That's basically how The Unicorns sounded, or tried to sound, and they made one of the greatest pop records of modern times.

Not so much

I'm living in New York at the moment, and they have been MASSIVELY hyped here. I personally don't think its deserved, I find them pretty dull.

I don't get this

They're like Graceland + The Unicorns = them.

What's not to like?

thr truth.

If the song Edith Bowman keeps trying to distract me from my job is anything to go by... no. They are like a really, really shit Midlake trying to work out what a tune is.

So i'm back from the gig.

They we're alright.

Nowt special, quite enjoyable but I expected more from the hype.

Last time I saw the Shins at the Barrowlands they had Viva Voce supporting - now there's a support act the blew me away.

The Shins were fucking amazing tonight. Just like they were last time.

Whoever said the Shins were rubbish live - fuck you!

boring

Jamie

knows !

No idea live.

Awesome on record.

Probably my favorite new band of the last few months

They will grow on people

They're not the sort of band to leave you awe struck on first encounter. I think the album will surprise

ffs

Do you write for The Nme?

No...

Why, should I?
