Me, Bony3rd and PWL are about to set out for Manchester for tonight's show at the Soup Kitchen, which, I am reliably informed, has ACTUAL SOUP in a cauldron.

Pretty exciting. Both musically and culinariwarilary.

So if you're in Manchester, summat good to do innit. Applicants and Modernaire are playing too.

Ace.

yaaaay!

i hope it's in an actual cauldron, and not separately portioned out.

i may well be writing an essay on the door.

You're on DiS!

You're webnomnpitient!

when i was born

i had a USB cable instead of an umbilical cord

*ethernet cable

either, really

you've

won

Very.

I looked on a map.
I am trying to memorise the map because my printer has run out of ink.
It's not working.

very close

walk down Oldham Street; after you've passed Piccadilly Records/the Night & Day/the Dry Bar, take the next right (you'll be on a road with a cafe called the Koffee Pot on it.) take the next right again, and the Soup Kitchen is right by you.

i took 'Piccadilly'

as meaning 'Piccadilly Gardens', then - if you mean how close is it to Piccadilly train station, it's also pretty near. just walk down the hill from the main entrance of the station... you'll then find yourself in Piccadilly Gardens. Oldham Street is the one turning off to your right with a big amusement arcade on the corner.

apologies if you know Manchester really well and that's reeeeeeeeeally patronising!

:)

I should know manchester pretty well as I have been there about 25 times. But I don't.

when you say walk down the hill from the main entrance, that's take a right yeah? passed the most gruesome greasy spoon in the entire world?

yeah

there are some disgusting places to greet you when you emerge from the station. it's not the best welcome to a city.

yes, you walk out of the main entrance, and the hill veers towards the right... on your left are the bus depot things and on your right is a strip of hideous transport-style-caffs. keep going until you've passed some vaguely nicer looking pubs and there is a small expanse of greenery to your left. with a big conical Christmas tree. that's Piccadilly Gardens. start identifying street names to locate 'Oldham'!

That was pretty good for me.

Thanks! Now we just need to find our way into the middle of Manchester.

hmmmm

I'm tempted. might need to scrap my "I'm playing xbox all day" thread.

don't

play your xbox all day. you'll turn into my housemate, who emerges from playing Halo 3 once every 24 hours to make a cheese sandwich and return to his room. we know he's still alive when i momentarily flick the internet connection off and you hear him screaming.

I haven't been that intoa computer game for ages.

Only once or twice ever, in fact.
It was amazing though! Metroid Prime was like this immersive world to get lost exploring for days at a time. It was great geeky escapism, but it made my eyes go funny, and I found that when I emerged, blinking, into the street, my eyes were looking for grappling points instead of speeding cars.

I'm never

going to be able to find it on my own.

Its not hard!

Go to Picadilly Gardens, find Nationwide, walk up the road to the left of it and its on your left

follow

the aroma of vegetarian soup.

what kind of soup

will it be?

i was told 'vegetarian'

which i suspect means it will be of the colour orange.

and there is enough

to feed 'ten musicians', i said. which i hope is enough. i can't imagine they measure it, though - probably just stick it in a big pot...

or just go to stevenson square

and then turn right on to spear street from there.

first band (pwl) on at 8pm sharp

bring a friend. if you've no friends bring a tramp.

nonsense

that tramp had a lovely time.

sadly not going to be able to make this tonight :(

which is a massive shame. This should be amazing.

boo

Nestor, when is your Simon Joyner thing?

sunday!

come along!

oooh my friend is going to this.

good luck with it all. other sounds gigs are awesome.

wow

thanks!

My issue with tonight

Is that Sky Larkin are playing at the N+D too. However given that I've not seen Mr IIIrd since End of ze Road and have never seen Mr Wandererererererererererer Lu I will more than likely come to this. The Soup Kitchen is great, and Modernaire are electropoptastic.

Shall see thee there hep cats xx

SET TIMES

Pagan Wanderer Lu: 8pm - 8.25pm
Applicants: 8.40pm - 9.05pm
Modernaire: 9.20pm - 9.55pm
Napoleon iiird: 10.10pm - 10.50pm

soup!?

soup :)

i want some soup...

everyone come tonight!

also come to this please: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/23229

it's gonna be awesum.

hmm

I thought this was tomorrow. Not sure I can make it tonight.

:)

I'll try my best.

GET ORGANISED

(please come x)

Is the guy who runs Soup Kitchen

called Trev?

this was really good

i love pwl and boney 3 so much, yay! modernaire were quite good too. i don't think i'm ever going to get applicants, but they were entertaining enough.

but still, yay!

good turnout?

yeah, pretty good i think

the venue was quite odd in that it was quite wide so it was difficult to tell really. the crowd didn't seem very energetic though. meh. rubbish students.

twas cool

First time I'd seen PWL, really enjoyed his set. I'll admit I'm unsure about Applicants, felt a lot like a less shambolic Sir Yes Sir. Problem is I love how shambolic SYS are.

I thought Napoleon IIrd was ace, I'm assuming you were the guy dancing in front of me non? My girlfriend was a little worried as apparently we look almost the same from behind and dance the same...

maybe

i was stood next to the merch table for most of the evening. i had a big beard and a purple hoodie.

you might be thinking of tristan (rocknrollnmassacre off of here) who managed to lose a fight to jeffrey applicants.

nope

Was you. I was also by said merch table, with less beard and less hoodie. Good beard by the way, in an interior design style-e 'I like what you've done with the place.'

I picked up the pwl Perfection RIP on his suggestion, tis a lot of fun.
