But, and i hate to say it, but i can't help but feel sorry for ol' Pete. And before you kill me, i think hes a dickhead and the libertines/babyshambles's are overrated in the "best band of the century" bollocks, Pete really did seem in an impossible position.
Carlish clearly was obsessive with him, and it was very obvious he was not completly "well", but what we saw of Pete wasn't half of what the papers have made him out to be, or at least from the pictures/stories Carlish sold.
I really can't see this being a good thing for the "filmmaker" (if you can even call him that) , but when you set out to relaunch himself from a man whos life is already clearly going down, then try your best to become his best friend, telling your camera when Pete spoke to you or such small things, THEN try and sell the whole thing, then when that fails make some quick cash of old pictures of him doing drugs you deserve a beating.
I know that sounds harsh as he is clearly ill, but that's not an excuse to try and make Pete's life that much worse, as he did.

Yeah, but how is Pete meant to have assumed that Carlish had some sort of mental illness? If someone acts like a twat on front of me, and becomes annoying in the way the Carlish is (whether his own fault or not), I don't automatically think 'Oh, he must have a mental illness, I'll leave him alone'. I think 'What an arse, fuck off'. I'm not violent, otherwise I'd punch him too.

And Pete punched him because he sold the photos to the Mirror, which is a pre-meditated plan to fuck someone over for cash. I don't believe illness inspired that decision.
