After scrabbling around in the dark for a while, new, great music finds prime-time again at 9pm this Saturday, as From The Basement launches on Sky Arts.
Sky? The volition is ours, or mine really. Look at this line-up and tell me you can’t find something to like:
December
1 - The White Stripes, The Shins & Neil Hannon
8 - Thom Yorke, Albert Hammond Jr & The Envelopes
15 - Beck, Jarvis Cocker & Jamie Lidell
22 - Sonic Youth, Laura Marling & Jose Gonzalez
29 - Super Furry Animals, Operator Please, PJ Harvey & Free Blood
January
5 - Damien Rice, Autolux, E (from Eels), Architecture in Helsinki
The premise for the show is simple – there’s no audience, no host. Just performance, with production handled by Nigel Godrich.
The six-part series runs to launch Centre Stage, a new weekly music island that will feature future performances from more established acts – Bowie, the Stones, the Pixies.
Sky Arts can be found at channel 267.
