or not necessarily rubbish, but songs you dislike enough to skip every time you listen to an album.

i love arab strap, but almost every album has one song i really hate: 'chat in amsterdam' on the last romance; 'fucking little bastards' on monday at the hug & pint; even on malcy's first album, which is one of my favourite records, i always skip 'wake up'.

'Support Our Troops (Black Angels OH)'

On 'Fabulous Muscles' by Xiu Xiu.

Urgh. A kind of sick window into an alternate reality where he decided to become a performance artist instead. Almost embarrassing.

it's oh so quiet

on Post. I skip that every time.

Meat Is Murder

moooooooooo

This ^

My least favourite Smiths track of all

The opening song on the Dresden Dolls first record

sounds like Evanesence. I ALWAYS skip it

...

Suprised no-one has mentioned Fitter Happier. I've tried listening to it, liking it, understanding it...

But I just. Can't. Like it.

This ^

But I just. Can't. Like it.

Shatner Impression?

Haha

i really like fitter happier

although that could be because a couple of my friends used to go to dance classes and did some weird modern dance performance to it. i didn't actually witness this madness but it always makes me laugh every time they talk about it.

...

I just find it gimmicky and a bit of a poor man's Providence.

But yes, I can see it being used as a very weird dance performance backing.

fitter, happier, really really miserable...

... i once pressed the wrong number when attempting to put karma police on the jukebox in the students' union. A cloud of darkness descended on everyone who had been happily playing pool.

actuaLOL

:D

if I listen to

Blackholes and Revelations, I have to skip Soldiers Poem.

Placebo - Bionic must be skipped & Swallow.
Sleeping With Ghosts - Something Rotten.

I'm sure there's a million more, but that's all I can think of atm.

Volcano!-before the suburbs

modest mouse- the devil's workday

Lay It Down Clown

on Tim. Stuff like Gary's Got A Boner and Tommy Gets His Tonsils out I can accept, but this is TOO FAR. It's hideously out of tune and just generally rubbish.

Replacements

Certainly did a whole load of shit along with their quite brilliant best stuff.

And personally I don't much care for Androgynous either, but don't tell anyone, I believe its rather popular.

I Never Wanted

although the album's not that great, but that song's just awful.

Not a big 'Knives Out' fan...

and itll be controversial, but 'Let Down' aint that hot either. But its not a skipper.

Fitter Happier

is quality though.

They're both

brilliant!!But the piano version of knives out is better.

Does hunting bears count as a song?

let down...

is one of my favourite radiohead songs.

Let Down...

...is the defining song of the term "grower". It tries to hide between Exit Music and Karma Police, but then the beauty of the layering, song structure and sheer range of Thom Yorke's voice comes shimmering through...

It's my favourite song ever, let alone by Radiohead!

such wisdom

from one so young :P

Strange Apparition by Beck

on The Information. Sounds like sodding elton john.

i fucking hate

Bonded By Blood (A Song For Two Brothers) off of the hot club de paris album.

Makes me sick.

bionic is a tune

Rage against the machine - mic check...

All the boring bits in Stag (Melvins)

before and after songs.

when im 64!! boooo

When Im Sixty-Four on Sgt Peppers... pile of crap

agreed

worst track on an otherwise flawless album.

For me.... errr... that long droney one on Wilco's "A Ghost is Born".

Luckily its followed by 'The Late Greats' so that's alright.

Student Demonstration Time!

Bloody Mike Love.

Beyond The Sunrise

on FYHCYWLAP by belle and sebastian. i quite like this album other than that terrible, terrible song.

yes

it's fucking awful, and the album as a whole is quite good.

it got a panning at the time

i guess it's a bit B&S-by-numbers but it's still got some amazing songs on it.

Quite liek that song!

at least it's sort of original

*like

damn my spazmo fingers

it's original in a way that a cake laced with marmite and plaster of paris would be original

ie - no-one's done that before for a good reason!

i do love b&s tho.

DEP- Black Bubblegum

on 'Ire Works'. I really don't get on with it.

I skip 'North American Scum' on Sound Of Silver by LCD Soundsystem. I like it but I've heard it way too much.

everyone seems to hate beyond the sunrise

i don't really get why, i actually like it quite a lot :|

'Declare Independance'

on Volta

urgh

^^^^^^^^^^^

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

for me

meat is murder generally gets turned off before the title track

Declare Independence

is the best track on Volta.

Everyone seems to hate it

but it's a choon.

One of my favourite albums of all time - I am a bird now by Antony and the johnsons - has that crazy 'i am flee at last' thing on it that really shouldn't be there.

no, it's just cringeworthy

'don't let them do that to you'

i can't even listen to it without feeling a bit embarrassed that Bjork is my favourite thing ever.

I cant listen to...

Death of an Interior Decorator by Death Cab For Cutie, in what is otherwise a very listenable album

i love

that song!

i can't listen to horse drawn cart on the mystery jets' debut

it's dodgy.

.................

La Lluvia on Beautiful Seizure by volcano!- I can't stand it, does my head in.

Price of Gasoline on Silent Alarm by Bloc Party- I really can't be asked to listen to it, especially when I know Luno is imminent.

I'm sure there are others but I can't think right now.

Price of Gasoline

- indeed. Especially as it comes on after Pioneers, which only serves to highlight it's crapness.

Two that immediately spring to mind:

'Savant' on Frames (Oceansize)
'Street Carp' on White Pony (Deftones)

Pink Cellphone :D

'It's oh so quiet' has NEVER been played on my copy of Post - that section of the disc is in pristine condition.

'it's oh so quiet' is amazing!

such a great song :D

No fucking way

Is Savant a bad song.
It's possibly one of the most beautiful things ever. When the strings come in at the end, it gets me every time. The drumming is terrific as well. Honestly, that song is SO good!
And Frames itself is such an intricate album, that if you skip that one track- Trail Of Fire's triumphant end going straight into Only Twin, which is so dark and shocking- it doesn't quite work.
Maybe I'm overreacting. I just love Frames too much!

Frames is excellant

but for me, Savant is just over the top with the whole string arrangements and 'flute' or whatever. They're unecessary, just seems like OS are tryin to prove they can do things on a 'grand' scale just for the hell of it, failing to pull it off. Brrrgggh.

'Those to Come' off Chutes Too Narrow

Just a really dull song. Other than that an amazing album.

'Ditch Digger' on Circa Now

by Rocket From The Crypt. Normally I quite like their slower songs, but this grates. It sounds so cumbersome and doesn't grab me at all. :(

"Remembrance"

on the album "Polydistortion" by Gus Gus.

Absolutely ace album, but a complete dirge of a song, right after the most beautiful song ("Why" in case you weren't sure)...

treefingers...

that is all.

Brand New

Handcuffs on The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. I absolutely love the album, but cqan't bring myself to enjoy that track.

Also, Must Try Harder by Frank Turner. Much as I love the guy, didn't feel it fit his sound at all.
