but the reason that there is such unreasonable partizan anger and unfathamoble desire to punish someone who is a westerner (no matter how niave and innocent) is due in part to many state politics and public events and incidents and insults.

There are some people in this world who push things (maybe rightly maybe wrongly) Salmon Rushdie was a pusher. This teacher is not.

In other posts I have made it clear that I think that the blame should be spread......i have blamed in other threads the sudanese authority.....who are most to blame, although perhaps predictably so......nevertheless it is their attitude that needs to change......BUT,,,,,because of this protest they can now say that 15 days is the minimum they could get away with because of the depth of public feeling.............in the highly charged relationship between cultures there are varying degrees of cuplability in elevating or heightening tension......what Im saying is, is that Salmon Rushdie did actually use fairly abusive language and stuff in his book (you could argue that it is deserved) which he knew would be controversial.

He has millions.

Are you claiming that afer salmon rushdies book or the danish newspaper cartoon, that incidents like this might not have been more likely? or more inflamed.

If you look carefully I did not 'blame' the newspaper or rushdie......I said it would be aq nice gesture......because I know that they will be thinking what I am saying a bit.

In Britain they defended the right of the danish paper to publish, but did not actually publish out of recognition of the further possibility of inflamation that that might cause ......this is actually what I think is the best response.

In another post I think you might find that I described what ghenghis khan would have done with such a law as is being applied in the sudan.....If you search it out you will see.

But I don't just mainly think of Islam when someone points out how daft organised religion can be. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism etc, I can think of all of them being involved in atrocities and idiocies.
