You wait all year for a Love Music, Hate Racism event, and then three come along at once...
First up: R*E*P*E*A*T Fanzine, long-time supporters of general righteousness, have booked two LMHR support/awareness raising gigs at The Junction Stripe (that's the main venue, which used to just be The Junction before The Junction Shed confused matters) this month. Apart from a good-works glow of righteousness, your £10/£14 (depending on which gig you attend) will get you entry to one of the following:
Thursday December 13th, £10.00
Inme
Anti-Social Burn-Outs
CosyCosy
Sunday December 16th, £14.50
The Wildhearts
Johnny Panic
The Hope
And the first 200 people to arrive each night get a free copy of R*E*P*E*A*T's Burn Cambridge Burn compilation, too.
However, if you're not into your heavy rock even a free CD might not be enough to convince you to go along. So, how about going to the January LMHR event at The Graduate Barfly instead?
Thursday January 31st, £10
The Broken Family Band
Delphi
The Resistance
Tickets for the Junction gigs can be purchased through Junction.co.uk; and tickets for the Barfly gig can be bought at the venue or through WeGotTickets.com - it's event number 24002, in case that helps, and 50p of the booking fee goes to the charity.

Ooh yeah!
I'll show those racialists what i think of them by going to this gig. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, cunts!
As a long-time racist,
I have to say the organisation of this concert has really opened my eyes to the reality of the issue.
I have no idea who any of the bands are, but wow. I'm a changed man.
i can't go to this;
I don't live in Cambridge, i don't like music, and i really love racism.
^Almost certainly my favourite Wrightylew post ever.
...
I can't figure out whether I hate racism more than I hate all of those bands. So conflicted...
The only band I've heard of are InMe
And their name pisses me off. Plus they're rubbish, but it's mainly the name.
its always really funny,
as i hate hate music but love a bit of racism. So this event it like eating chalk for me.
These events almost make me slightly racist
It's certainly more socially acceptable to be a racist
than to attend an event where Inme will be performing.
It's a completely flawed plan anyway..
Fight prejudice with music?
Music fans are as prejudiced as most, if not more so.
Total ineffectual gimmick.
I'm going to start a series of gigs up
Smug about music, turns a blind eye to racism.
Got to be a winner.
bf
I love racism and hate music. What is there for me?
Aw, come on fellas -
if there's one band who're going to unite EVERYONE, even if only in hatred, surely it's InMe?
.
These festivals are so funny. "Lets stick it to racism by having a line-up of white bands playing indie music!"
Do any of those bands even have a brown member? What a load of bollocks.
Crass c.1979
Thousands of white men standing in a park,
Objecting to racism's like a candle in the dark.
Black man's got his problems and his way to deal with it,
So don't fool yourself you're helping with your white liberal shit.
If you care to take a closer look at the way things really stand,
You'd see we're all just niggers to the rulers of this land.
I can't agree with those Crass lyrics,
emphatic though they are. People always talk scornfully about LMHR gigs, as though the organisers and bands are claiming they can wipe out racism in the space of 3 hours with the power of their rock. They're not, and no-one is.
What LMHR gigs do is at least make an attempt to get a room full of people together in a joint, physical statement against far right groups. The far right groups tend to do this themselves as a show of their strength, so it's important to counteract that somehow. And maybe some people there will feel inspired to go out and campaign against the BNP come election time.
The BNP are a real threat around Cambridge - they're based in the Fens but they're campaining regularly all around the area. So it IS important to make some kind of show of strength against them, and let people know what they're about.
Oh, but hang on - Love Music Hate Racism was in the NME the other week, wasn't it? Eeeeuw, dirty! Fuck those guys! Let's all vote Nazi and show Conor McNicholas who's boss!
