I totally forgot this magazine existed. Possibly because only one shop in London sells it. And it's in Shoreditch or some shit.
they sell it in every
borders i've been to...
THHHREEE CHHHOOOCCCOOLLAAATTTEEE CCCUUUSSSSTTTTAAAARRRRDDD!!!
most of them are shit though
This list is fucking awesome!
I have never heard of this magazine but I need it in my life, this is amazing! I love it all! No Manatees makes me sad but if it's an American magazine, I would understand.
its british
its rilly good.
http://www.rock-a-rolla.com/
damn i need to buy the
latest issue...
"BORDERS UK EXCLUSIVE! All copies of Rock-A-Rolla issue 12 in Borders (UK only) come with a free CD featuring Melvins, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Isis, Dalek and many more artists from the best label on the planet: Ipecac Recordings!"
they win
because they've given their cover to Sunn twice in 12 issues.
Need to go to Borders!
I don't think we have one in Canterbury. I may even subscribe, this is the greatest list of bands ever. FACT.
mm
£15 for a year is really good... £2.50 an issue postpaid, plus you get two back issues free.
Right, hopefully
I get Christmas money. It is being spent on this. Impulsive decisions based on this thread alone and having never read the magazine but imagining it to be great = good idea or bad idea?
always a good idea.
...
And it's a pretty good magazine. I mean, I can't remember anything about the quality of writing, but they have about 4 articles about bands featuring Mike Patton in each issue - so there's that.
Got this last week
from Borders - awesome magazine, and probably the best free CD ever
my housemate reads this
i'll be stealing it more often i think.
yeah great mag
designs a bit rubbish tho'
That's the best
end of year list I've seen yet, by a loooong way. A bit messed up in order but pretty right mostly.
One thing that stands out is 18. Fog 'Ditherer', which is rubbish, but anything that makes mention of 24. Shining 'Grindstone' is awesome by me.
its..
....an utterly predictable list for this magazine.
They got number 1
spot on.
But it's a good list
Every other magazine had more or less the same top albums- LCD, M.I.A, Burial etc...
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
I didn't know they were still going.
Not a bad list although some glaring omissions e.g. WITTR, Baroness, Grails
I
really like this magazine. I have a subscription in fact. But I thought the list was pretty conservative to be honest.
Great band...
... Sleepytime...
Spot on
Great list, I agree totally
oooh
this reminds me to finally listen to that last orthodox album .... gran poder was a heap of fun ....
I dunno if I like it
they've gone sort of jazzy for a large portion of it...well used standup bass and clarinet and stuff anyway. It's different at least! Dunno about good though.
Wow - Caina!!!!
We gave him his first ever gig about 1 1/2 years ago supporting the stunning Neptune. One day Southampton will realise we are geniuses, but by that point it will be too late.....
I will have to check this mag out, sounds interesting.
Am now a subscriber
.
As am now I...
...
Pisse Jeans should be higher on that list
Amazing record. Can't wait to see them.
They literally,
...bum anything that has something to do with Mike Patton, Southern Lord or The Melvins though and that becomes a bit tiring after a while.
It does cover cool artists, though the writing style is well dry and it's more entertaining reading about Kings of Leon's drug habits than what most noise artists have to say.
.........
Me like-y!
Its nice to open a magazine
and read about how a band made a record for a change, rather than what they put up their nose or what hairspray they use..........
