American soul legend Ike Turner has died at home in San Diego, California at the age of 76.
There’s no word as of yet on the cause of Turner’s death.
Musically best remembered for his work with ex-wife Tina and his hit single ‘Rocket 88’, Ike’s epitaph – an observed one, given his recent induction into the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ – will be forever sullied by accusations of domestic abuse levelled at him by his former spouse.
"Tina is aware that Ike passed away earlier today,” said a spokesperson for Tina Turner.
"She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

He made some great records...it's a shame he's gonna be best remember for his ex-wifes damning version of events.
I mean, it could all be true, but we'll never know, cos he was legally prevented from giving his 'side' in their divorce settlement.

if the film IS to be believed, he chose to take all of the royalties and the money and his right to speak out, and she just walked away with his name. Basically, he sold his pride in that transaction, so it's his own damned fault if everyone will always think he's a wife beater, and he'll never get redemption.
Sorry - I have little sympathy. Musical genius, sure, but a fucking idiot nonetheless.
