Is it me or is this seems to be becoming more and more common? I think I approve of this although I don't think I'm going to start doing it myself.

i sign
a lot of personal emails "xd". it's no biggie.
i like when it's big
XXXX or XOXOXOXOXOXOX
but personally, as a girl, i sign out
with xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoooxoxxoooxxoox
With girls I expect it and it's kind of etiquette
but it's only fairly recently I've seen guys doing it too.
i do
dx
i like giving everyone kisses though.
This probably caused confusion
with the pals of Malcolm X. If text messaging had been invented.

"...which we ntnd to brng in2 xstnc by ne mns necessary. Malcolm x
Superb
...
Depends on who it is
Often to girls I will put an "x" anyway, it's just the way I roll!
To lads sometimes, it depends, sometimes in a jokey manner.
I actually just sent Bamos a PM with an "x" on the end.
bamos loves the x
*it in
i do this
and also call both my male and female friends 'love' or 'my lovely'.
it seems a strange thing to do, admittedly but there's not enough affection 'round here and it's nice to be loved innit?
...
It's just you.
Excellent.
I feel unique and special. Like a snowflake.
I think it's nice, and polite.
But men greet each other by kissing here, so WATDOIKNOW, eh?
I do it with females.
It seems like the thing to do..
'Never trust a man
who signs an uneven number of kissses Miranda'.
Oh, okay. A modern twist on the man with eyebrows that meet in the middle.
EVEN
damn it, even numbers.
Really
I always use an uneven number e.g. 1, 3, 5 etc ?
soz
didn't bother to read the correction.
OCD ^^
See I'd not only use at even number of kisses
but my eyebrows also meet in the middle.
I truly am a disreputable bastard.
uhoh
guntrip signs with two!!! DON@T TRUST HIM!
good advice.
or none
:(
I do it
I didn't use to do it. Therefore yes, it is.
i do it to people I like because I like them
I do it to people I dislike because I want to make them feel uncomfortable.
you say the sweetest things.
there's rules don't you know
one x means one kiss on the cheek
two xx mean a kiss on either cheek
three xxx means a kiss on either cheek then a sneeky one on the lips.
so feel free to give another bloke xxx if that's the way you're inclined..
what about when there's like
XXXXXXXXXX ?
that's a full on snog
surely!
that
would involve parts that dont usually see sunlight
it is
my friends do it, its really out of character, but i dont object i guess
On a complete and utter side note
I got talking to a guy on a tube the other week, got into a deep conversation and then when we said goodbye we did the whole cheek-kissing thing.
It's pretty unusual to do that here but I found it nice and friendly.
in crazy land,
you're now married!
Ace.
He had a wine cellar, two ferraris and a chateau in the South of France. I could live with that.
typical man trick
he's only saying that to get you in the sack. he probably lives in a bedsit above a wetherspoons in peckham.
He gave me £20 for a taxi*
so he's either putting his money where his lies were or stupidly rich.
*He didn't know London well and I agreed to stay on a couple of stops to show him where to change at Paddington but then we both missed the last tube. He gave me the money to compensate for my inconvenience and we parted ways. It was a slightly strange evening.
best story ever
so a strange man on the tube kissed you, and gave you money?
:D
And told me about his wine cellar, chateau in France and 2 ferraris
repeatedly.
But that was pretty much what happened, yeah.
I don't feel comfortable using them
I think they should only be used with people you would kiss in real life, and upon meeting said people they should be able to redeem txt/email kisses for real ones
Yeah,
I think this started off in a jokey manner between mates, and got overused. So now it's almost becoming etiquette at the end of messages between men to put an 'x'. I only use it for girls, though.
I tend to only do this with about 15 people
the rest don't get no kissing action from me. With boys... it's kind of the same. Unless they don't know you, in which case, leave them well alone.
I don't use a kiss
I don't use a 'x' for either girlfriends or male friends. I have noticed that all my guy mates do this now.
I am afraid a '.' makes me look too cold and clinical - such are the times we live in! :o)
it's retrosexual, don't fight it
i think men should be more gay.
not in the having sex with eachother stakes and the banshee stuff, but generally. i moisturise, you should too, it makes your skin feel all nice.
gay
the fuck?
i have ALWAYS signed correspondences off with a 'x' whether it's a man or a woman. what's the deal?
No deal.
I just hadn't noticed men doing it before and now they do it a lot is all.
I kiss off everyone
I think it's rude not to. It doesn't just mean a kiss though - it can mean a hug or high five, or summat. If someone doesn't do it back to me, I think they're a Nazi.
... x
i
do this sometimes, sometimes not.
only do it to girls is want to sex
i dont do it with anyone
I like my beers cold, my tv loud...
my msn signoff is adieu(um)
sad.
You've got to get your gay out somehow
I vote it's fine.
Although I only usually puts x's to female friends, so kinda countered my own point. Ah well, back to work.
BYE!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
ha
i find that i generally make an effort with my spelling and grammar when texting girl mates, but with male friends i purposely dumb down, as to not look a bit feminine.
Are you coming to the pub on Saturday, dear? x.
Vs.
U comin pub on satdi fella.
I do this quite a lot
Pretty much always with female friends, and quite often with male friends. It started as a joke, but now just seems like common courtesy.
Haha. Several people have in the past commented on the fact that my texts are always gramatically correct and that it is infact a bit gay. Since when did the English language become gay? Some people, I just don't understand them. I really don't
i know
Surely the only point to shorthand texting is if you've not got enough space to fit the whole message in.
I don't think it's exclusive to texting really, i just think people are so robotic and uninteresting nowadays that if you do anything even slighly intelligent you're a bit of a gayer. I used to like going out early on a Saturday to a pub, buying a pint and sitting outside reading a book, but apparently doing that means i have sex with men.
Oh dear
we're all trapped by the fear of what others may think of us and what is considered "gay" and what isn't. Having said that I would just make some of my friends feel very uncomfortable if I started signing out with kisses, but I always text in grammatically correct English...mainly because I spend twice as long otherwise trying to work out the abbreviations for each word. Anyhow, surely predictive text kind of makes text language a bit redundant?
I only do if I'm drunk...
or if it's a message like "get well soon" or something like that, just because that seems right.
but in general use i find it a bit strange, but i'm weird like that.
Twee_loser
You've got to make sure that the men who put an x anywhere have only been with 4 men or fewer...;-)
Meow!
I do this
but mainly because I have a few male friends who it makes uncomfortable and that amuses me
really the question is,
how come no hugs??? i always do the xoxoxoxoxoxo
i feel weird just doing xxxxx
is an o a hug?
apparently
so
i kisses my threads
and i kisses my mates and i kisses some girls and i like mike diver's "mx" as it makes me think of deftones and so does rx
rx
i sign
txts with x's to friends who're girls and some close guy friends or ones that it's assumed is always in a jokey manner, emails and messages etc. i usually signed with alxx
I always think that it means people want the conversation to end
when they put a kiss
I can see this
Its like snogging people is bound, for one reason or another, to shut them up
I need to be more annoyingly talkative around women...
i don't sign off with kisses any more
i like to only leave kisses in the following circumstances:
1. i fancy the person
2. i am starting/ending a conversation (via email, dis pm etc) or writing a long email to someone i like
3. i have said something offensive and want the person to know it's in jest.
i wouldn't do it to someone who is like, something to do with business or anything. unless i fancy the person.
You left a kiss on my Facebook profile last week.
Presumably you were being offensive and I didn't spot it...
no, i was taking the piss out of the girl who posted before you
*me
I would beleve this except she actually posted after you.
(I'd never really spoken to her really either so that was slightly bizarre...)
All the ones before you were male so your alibi falls down.
Intriguing...
on your graffiti wall, doofus
or something like that, i can't massively remember
You fancy me!
:p
:(
i do it
cos its a way of signing off the text, so peeps know its over and can go back about their daily business
i used to have a system of different meanings, but thats kinda over:
x= bye!
xx= i fancy you!
xxx= i just had sex with you
xxxx= i'm overexcited
xxxxx= i'm taking the piss
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx= are we going out?
actually this is identical (nearly) to what I think about x's
xx
Depends who i'm speaking to but generally
no x - male friend or a girl 'no'
x - female friend in the 'yes' sphere
xx - 'special friend'
xxx - 'ultrayes'
for some reason i tend to pronounce 'xoxo' as zoxo.
I prefer xox as it reminds me of hot snakes.
What the hell does xd mean?
JOKES ANSWERS ONLYS PLES
x of death
or x of daniel
same thing. his kisses are deadly.
If I get a text with an x
I reply with an x.
If not I don't.
i sometimes do that
but i like to shake it up a bit sometimes. why should they be the boss of me?
oh man I'm a retard
