I didn't use to do it. Therefore yes, it is.

I do it to people I dislike because I want to make them feel uncomfortable.

one x means one kiss on the cheek
two xx mean a kiss on either cheek
three xxx means a kiss on either cheek then a sneeky one on the lips.

so feel free to give another bloke xxx if that's the way you're inclined..

I got talking to a guy on a tube the other week, got into a deep conversation and then when we said goodbye we did the whole cheek-kissing thing.

It's pretty unusual to do that here but I found it nice and friendly.

I think they should only be used with people you would kiss in real life, and upon meeting said people they should be able to redeem txt/email kisses for real ones

I think this started off in a jokey manner between mates, and got overused. So now it's almost becoming etiquette at the end of messages between men to put an 'x'. I only use it for girls, though.

the rest don't get no kissing action from me. With boys... it's kind of the same. Unless they don't know you, in which case, leave them well alone.

I don't use a 'x' for either girlfriends or male friends. I have noticed that all my guy mates do this now.

I think it's rude not to. It doesn't just mean a kiss though - it can mean a hug or high five, or summat. If someone doesn't do it back to me, I think they're a Nazi.

i like to only leave kisses in the following circumstances:
1. i fancy the person
2. i am starting/ending a conversation (via email, dis pm etc) or writing a long email to someone i like
3. i have said something offensive and want the person to know it's in jest.

i wouldn't do it to someone who is like, something to do with business or anything. unless i fancy the person.

cos its a way of signing off the text, so peeps know its over and can go back about their daily business
