Been reading the Timothy Leary biog and been getting dead keen on trying LSD.

I've tried most drugs, but LSD has just never been on the radar. My mates been on it and says its a buzz but after 8 hours is just a bit boring. HAs anyone even come across it out in London, or have any insight?

Looks like a thing i'll never do

1. You need loads of time
2. You need sober friends there the whole time
3. I'm pretty scared of what my brain would dream up. I'm more than certain i'd have a "bad trip"

hmmm

not in London, no. London is mad enough just on the booze.

hmmm

not sure about lsd. but i did read huxley's 'doors of perception' a few weeks back and it's given me a craving for mescalin. it sounds beautiful.

..

yeah I thought if I did try it, it would be in a pretty comfortable place with no distractions and probably be a good idea to tell someone what i was up to.

Not sure if I'd want them there too though.

Having read a lot of Philip K Dick

I'd probably seize the opportunity if it came up, in the hope the world would melt away and be replaced by a vision of Rome.

But I'm really just not 'cool' enough. The drugs have to find you, and when you're dressed/look like me, they tend to stay away.

probably

one of the worst experiences of my life.

but then

again I was at a squat party and someone spiked me with acid and so I wasnt prepared.

If you are going to try it be around friends you really trust and be in a comfortable location.

..

Yeah that was a point in the book, that someone has to be aware there taking it, otherwise there jsut gonna get fucked up.

I'm kinda intrigued by the idea of (without sounding like a big hippy but..) expanding my mind.

Or is that all jsut a myth?

PKD

would act as more of a deterrent. Go for the classics, Hunter Thompson, Aldous Huxley, Tom Wolfe and the man Tim Leary.

I wouldn't call it insight but

I tried it, and its not big or clever. I had a great time on it but its not something I plan on doing again. Mind you, I never planned to do it the first time. Not sure if you would want a sober "normal" friend with you, but definitely people you trust.

I've never been offered

it. Always had to acquire it. It's certainly not boring. However, sometimes you do get to a point at which you think you've done irreversible damage to your brain. Once you get past that it's fine. But yeah, make sure you have someone there who can help you do simple tasks, like crossing the road.

i used take them

pretty much every week for a period of about 6 months or so, never had a bad one tho mind, but i know a few people whos had a bad time on them . ive always found if you take them at home with mates its always a funny night of sheer craziness haha

Go for it

Never tried it myself but all my friends who have have had great experiences. Just make sure you're in a good environment, have sober friends and a bit of time on your hands. A sunny day seems to help too.

It's not as available as other drugs but it usually can be obtained in my experience.

...

Yeah that's the pther thing, I've asked a few dealer acuaintences and all they say is "...LSD? Nah mate, got some (shit) coke though."

Might have to extend my dealer acuaintences to more than just the black guys who stand outside Fopp in Camden.

I've taken it twice

and both times have been great, some uncomfortable moments after eight or nine hours when you just can't get to sleep because 'events' keep happening in your brain but generally, great.

You have to take it somewhere you feel secure, it helps to have a few friends around you who are also taking it (to share your 'revelations' with at the time) and a few friends who aren't (to make sure you don't get into mischief).

From my experience, I've never laughed so much in my life... like, laughter to the point of physical exhaustion. Alternating waves of confusion and clarity. Joyous excitement, introspective soul searching, regression to childhood memories, lots and lots of curiosity. I found the hallucinations more subtle than explicitly blatant. Music didn't hold my interest other than the sounds of peoples voices and oddly enough I loved Why Don't You Eat Carrots? by Faust. Don't know what that all tells you about me but acid seems to reacts with personalities, accentuating parts of your character you've never possibly considered. It brings forth stuff from the subconscious you've not thought about for years.

Be positive (if you think you will have a bad trip, you likely will. If you think it's going to be amazing and adventurous, well, it likely will that too). Have close friends with you. Have a laugh! Get some books scattered around you, there's nothing like tripping and picking up a book, reading one page and letting the words trigger something wild in your head. Be prepared for the fact you'll probably have more ideas cascading through your mind in those ten or so hours than you thought possible. Sounds simple, but enjoy it.

(as for mescaline, I'm doing that in three days time, should be beautiful...)

^^this

lsd doesn't fry the brain, it expands the mind....

That

doesn't appeal to me what so ever.

took lots during the 1980s

was my drug of choice including when I was the only one in my circle of friends not injecting. Sitting watching a room full of your friends jagging speed and jellies on two and a half acid isn't an experience I'd recommend to everyone

LSD can be a very uplifting experience, parks, light, sound, people etc can be an amazing experience. As with everything don't start off by gubbing three of them. And the whole have a sober friend with you may not be such a good idea, I'd recommend tripping with a friend instead as you'll both take something different from it

if you want to prolong the trip do some hot knives when you start coming down

2cb!

is great! kind of mild acid, but really amazing.. the only time i have had acid of any kind. it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life

start with small amounts

temper it with lots of alcohol. Ideally do it out in the country, when it is warm. You become hypersensitive to cold etc. Do it when you're feeling well generally. Have a stimulating but not overbearing surrounding and be safe.

If you keep it low and temper it with alcohol it's pleasant to go out on, if you want to get proper trippy at home or a mate's or in the countryside is preferable. I've had fun in towns, at the cinema on it but it's riskier and therefore you may well get a bit edgier and paranoid.

It was the first drug I ever did, I had a terrible first time but some lovely, milder ones after.

Not a fan

But why ask? Either you are going to or you aren't

everyone should (at least once)

it's worth asking as it's useful to have as much information as possible and be aware of what could happen to you..
I would go with marilyn's advice, take it
BUT make sure you are in a comfortable/familiar setting with people you know well and trust & without too many worries on your brain
it's an amazing experience and will make you think again about many things

Don't take it

unless you are emotionally secure and stable mentally...
LSD - the latter elements = BAD TRIP i.e. unrecoverable psychosis, flashbacks etc...

that advice about alcohol is stupid

ignore it. Mixing drugs is daft until you know what you're doing. Respect what you put in your body and mind and you'll be ok. Read about it, and try and go tripping with someone who's done it before and is comfortable.

why is it?

seems about right...

I'm off my quack on Wazboids right now

I think I can see my own brain

One of the worst experiences of my life

and then some. Don't forget the flashbacks and panic attacks.

It's the only drug on the planet to get into your brain and decide to fuck it up with a sledgehammer.

I'd sooner take smack. For sure.

A friend has had LSD,

once he had some really really strong chilli sauce. He said that was a bit like acid.

Go for it

But stick with friends (at least one of whom is straight) for the first few times.

Haven't done any for over 10 years so I don't know what kind of effect it might have but I did quite a bit over a 2 year period and I've never had any problems. It was a lot of fun.

I've only ever seen one mate have a bad trip and that was the first time they did it, so he just didn't do it again.

No need to get all

homophobic on us

Paul McCartney did it

you don't want to be lamer than Paul McCartney do you?

One of the best experiances ever

its so surreal & especially at the around 3 - 4hr mark where things really start to go crazy is the best bit. The drug gives you a sense of well being and euphoria, so the likelyhood of a bad trip is quite low.

Before taking LSD I suggest to people to try LSA first (found in local headshops in the form of Purple Ohms) then move onto Mushroom then Acid.

Although the most intense trip is to be found in Salvia.

.

Its brilliant. Best drug i've ever taken. Would never do it again though.

I think if you're past the school/university point in your life then you should probably leave well alone.
