But I haven't been there for YEARS. I just remember it being quite old-fashioned.

What can one purchase there? I quite fancy some girly bed sheets, or maybe some boots, or to (half) replace the coat I lost last week - cos it's v expensive there, right?

Ideas please!

Or maybe they have a sale in January and I should just wait?

fabric

i would buy lots and lots of fabric for home usage (bed sheets, tables, etc). it's like heaven in there.

but the sales are probably worth waiting for

wait for the sale

Unless it's changed over recent years, it's a proper sale, not this 5% off here and there for things that nobody ever wanted in the first place - a few years ago i bought a nice persian rug for about 100 quid down from about 600.

Particular nice timeless home stuff

oh really?

nice. thanks!

bf

they sell those funny perfumes that smell of grass, vinyl, old books etc

Don't need more perfume

Already got about eight bottles and only ever really use one.

I didn't actually imagine you'd go for perfume that smells of grass, books and records ;)

uh huh

but you'd be amazed what you can sell to the unsuspecting public with a bit of good packaging, and i bet they're sooooo pretty. smells of grass? who cares! it's soooo pretty.
i bet i get suckered in with something like this. meh.

ps:

imagine smelling like vinyl grockle? i'd be like the pied piper of hamlin, with hoardes of geeky record collector types following me down the street sniffing me. No thanks! Jeez :D

ya, actually, you're right :)

i'll stick with my special fairy potion :)

heh

i'd scream 'I DON'T EVEN HAVE A RECORD PLAYER' to scare them off :)
it smells seriously rank in that place though - like - umm - near death? it just smells of stuff that really old people wear.

They have some brilliant silk Scarfs there.

Silk Scarfs are cool.

ditto fabric

their haberdashery (sp?) department (sp?) makes me want to weep. they also have really beautiful lighting. and the florists is awesome. however. SALE IS BEST.

Umm

One set of bedsheets - not including pillow cases or bottom sheet - £150.
Pretty knickers - £75.
2008 diary - with a plastic cover - £80.
A bed throw I fell in lust with £695.

I ran out of there like a startled chicken.

Damn right it's gonna have to wait until the sales!

I remember the florist too - I bought an ex six lillies for valentines day once. That set me back 75 notes about five years ago.

How the other half live! I want that bedspread SO much though :( :(
