So I'm currently on the train back to Uni, and I discovered I can use the internet for free all the way back up to York. How cool is this? Apparently I get free tea and coffee too. Hurrah! Is anyone else having an unexpectedly nice day?

It's pretty cool
and no, my day hasn't been unexpectedly nice. But it will be if Luton manage to get something out of Liverpool.
that IS cool
.
Hmm
*another reason not to read a novel on the train. Just what i need.
. .
.
*tone of sarcasm that just grates
I've
used the free national express wi-fi on the coach from Cambridge to London before. Unfortunately it relies on 3G mobile signals, which just doesn't happen on the M11.
the oxford tube has that too!
unfortunately mylaptop is about as portable as a jumbo jet so i never get to take advantage.i'm thirsty and i need to have a shower and go home.
Last time I checked
Jumbo Jets were pretty portable, they could be taken all around the world with ease.
<3
really?
wow.
PWNED
this is the best news i've heard today
that i need to have a shower?
the shower was great, by the way. i've still not gone home yet though!
yeah its great fun.
kinda slow though :(
yeah
but the bad news is that at the end of the line you have to get off and get a gay purple bus to the most boring place on the planet.
i wish national express was still called GNER though. it's just not right.
'Interesting' Facts!
National Express' longest service is the 336 from Penzance to Edinburgh run by FirstGroup. The entire journey takes an estimated 18 hours and 30 minutes. It stops at 41 destinations en route and is a journey mostly undertaken at night.
Other long journeys include the 539 service from Bournemouth to Edinburgh run by Bruces(Salsburgh) which takes an estimated 13 hours and 20 minutes.
Most destinations have easy access to London with nearly every town and city having a direct service to the heart of the English capital. Cross country services often link with north / south services at Milton Keynes Coachway on the M1 at Junction 14, a location with park and ride facilities and 24 hour cafe.
To partly alleviate the continued frustration of customers who are still without hostess / refreshment services on board, overnight services using the M1 often stop at motorway service stations en route.
Southampton to Glasgow
DULL AS FUCK
Return journey wasn't much better, got dumped :(
Oh god!
Were you dumped just before the journey or possibly worse....during?
During
Right fucking barrel of laughs that was
So the guy in Glasgow didn't have the guts to teel you to your face
..and instead opted to tell you via text (I assume) when you were heading home?
What a bastard!
Did you have any hint that anything was wrong or was it a totally out of the blue?
why
did i just read all that?
i'm more bored than i realised :(
.
Are you sat in first class?
Doesn't matter
since National Express took over, WiFi is available free of charge to all passengers on the East Coast Main Line.
Yeah I know...
It's the free tea and coffee I want.
wow
that is good news, i'm bringing my laptop with me next time. do they still have the 'quiet coach B' that gner used to have?
how come everyone is talking about buses in this thread?
it's about TRAINS. does nobody read?
We're talking about lovely coaches because they're cheaper
and you're guaranteed a seat! : )
Additionally, the 035 from Bournemouth to London is quicker...hooray for coaches!
Perhaps because
as well as running train services, National Express also run a large coach network in the UK, upon which many of their services there is also a free WiFi feature?
well i know that
it just seemed that everyone had read 'national express', presumed he was talking about coaches and ignored the rest.
and anyway, trains > coaches
As a frequent user of First Great Western trains, believe me when I say
We don't even get remotely clean carriges, let alone free-fucking wi-fi.
^that's if the train doesn't arrive 20 minutes late
Seriously, I can nearly guarantee a First Great Western train will be late by that amount of time before I leave the house.
First Great Western?
Did i get that from Paddington to Penzance?
Stops at Exceter etcetera
There's also a night service on this. You get a bed for the night and a cabin. 'North by Northwestern' stylee.
Sets of at 10pm from Paddington and gets you there for 8am the next morning. Thats class. Considering it takes 6 hours of sitting usually (though granted the scenery is fucking amazing in parts like Teignmouth, Redrock, Saltash). Imagine just kipping right through on the way there, and you could look at the scenery on the way back.
I keep glancing the title of this
and thinking National Express are giving away Wiis :(
