After Snowy's mighty fine unofficial thread yesterday comes the return of the mack. Or the official thread anyway.

Lots of silly transfer rumours around today. The pick of the bunch being Spurs preparing to pay £8million for Tal Ben Haim. That's the sort of thing I expect from Newcastle.

Jermain Defoe has been told he can leave Spurs although he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Reading have signed Czech midfielder Marek Matejovsky and Pompey have signed Swiss striker Danijel Subotic.

Villa want to sign Justin Hoyte and Kevin Doyle.

Man City are in the market for a striker, Peter Crouch, Fred, Lucas Podolski, Amanto Mancini and Vagner Love are all on the shortlist.

Leeds have slapped a £3million price tag on top scorer Jermaine Beckford - the same valuation as Coventry have put on international striker Michael Mifsud. The world has gone bonkers.

Fulham are set to sign Jean-Alain Boumsong on loan from Juventus. At least he's better than Chris Baird.

Derby are in for £2million Robbie Savage. Only 4 more months of his histrionics on Match of the Day. Woo!

Bristol City have received 20 loan offers for striker Steve Brooker.

Leicester have signed Ben Alnwick on loan from Spurs.

Swindon are set to appoint Maurice Malpas as their new manager.

There is no news as to whether a potential buyer for Luton Town has come forward.

Lincoln City cancel Steve Torpey's contract. The big man is likely to sign for Farsley Celtic.

Wycombe sign Leon Knight from MK Dons.

Bolton have turned down a £12m offer from Chelsea for Anelka

I don't see why they don't go for Defoe if he's available. He still has the potential to score a shit load of goals

Good shout

He's been shit hot in the last month or so even though he's barely started a game.

yeah good call

i think he has more of a hunger/capacity to get us goals that nicholas "im a little shit" anelka

Anelka would score

more goals than Blingford who also happens to be a little shit

^

this

Danielle Lloyd would never move to Bolton.

Fucking WAG culture.

Ha..

£8m for Ben Haim that would amuse me greatly.
Any news on how much Chelsea are going to end up paying for Anelka, if it's more than about £11, I won't be a happy bunny.

I have a feeling Bolton won't sell

Not really based on anything, I just see it ending up that way

i SOOOOO hope

spurs buy ben haim off us...they can have him for free but £8unbelievableysillymillion pounds would be very nice

Beckford might not *actually* be worth £3m

but his value to the club this season is certainly that and more.

Steve Torpey: past-it striker heads for non-league football. It's like the olden days all over again.

With that logic

Watford should be looking for the best part of £20million for Marlon King...

Marlon King!

Marlon joke more like. 1 good season in the Championship doeth not make a £20 million player, although I hope the useless lump goes for as much as possible as Forest get 10% of any sell on fee.

i'm not sure if City needs another striker

what with Castillo and Bojinov hopefully coming back soon. Unless Bianchi decides to leave, that is

what we definitely need is a right winger - far too much is going through Petrov at the moment. And we could probably do with another attacking minded centre mid as an understudy to Elano

Fred has a spectacular scoring record

i sincerely hope Svennis doesn't go for Peter Crotchet, how would he fit in with our style of football? If Bojinov's nearing fitness i'd probably try and sign a whippet like Defoe. The Boj looks like he could hold play up well. I think Vager Love is meant to be coming. We're going to be nothing less than the second best footballing side in the country, still.

Peter Crouch

is a hundred times better with his feet than he is with his head.

true

but that's only because he's absolutely awful with his head.

you're right

up front we do need someone pacy who can get behind defenders and latch onto some of the great balls coming from midfield. It's especially important if Sven insists on playing 4-5-1 (i don't know why the fuck he does it - neither Bianchi nor Darius can perform the solo striker role. As a partnership i think they can be quite effective). Also, someone who can take people on would be great, as everyone at Eastlands fucking loves skinners. That's why SWP was such a hero

Saying all this, i don't think Defoe is the right man. He wouldn't be the worst choice though

I would laugh so much if Spurs bought Ben Haim

I think my mate would have a hernia.

Hoyte and Doyle for Villa... I guess if we're getting carson as well it's fair enough, that is where we're weak.

Doyle I like, depends on price, I guess we could do with a box smart player, but I dunno he just doesn't seem like the kind of player to take us up a level. Hoyte I'm even more meh about, I was hoping for a more attack minded full back (as everyone else is kinda defence slanted), like Bridge or summit, but in O'Neill we trust...

I imagine Ramos is misquoted

and that him saying Defoe can leave is probably just the 'if he won't sign a new contract, fair enough, he can leave if he wants' statement of fact it seems like to me, but if we sell Defoe I'll be unhappy.

Tal Ben Haim would be a good signing, but thats ridiculous money. You'll be talking about spending £16 million on Darren Bent next... LOLZ

I was pleased to see

villa were the main team to be linked with defoe. That's more what I'm talking about.

Snowy's...unofficial thread?

How dare you! Twas I!

And another thing...NO-ONE is as bad as Jean Alain Boumsong. NO-ONE I tells ya!

Oh shit

I'm sorry. There will be a full public apology published tomorrow.

That's better.

I'll call my lawyers off.

Fred who?

Dibnah

He's got

a good engine

:D

ben haim is a truely terrible defender

not what spurs need right now.

and swindon can appoint who they like,

barnet are still gonna batter them next week

Talk on the West Ham forum

is Matty Derbyshire. Will have that.

Why?

Surely you don't need him?

which forum?

And isn't he always injured? Should fit in well then.

QPR haven't signed anybody

for 2 whole days now, very dull. We'll have all of the above please especially Savage.

We've got Cole & Ashton

then Zamora & Bellamy. God knows if Bobby will be going (I really really hope not), Ashton is so inconsistent and Bellers could crock it again. Camara is absolutely gash.

I've always like Derbyshire, but isn't he 'Blackburn born and bred'?

HAPPY NEW YEAR FOOTBALL THREAD!

I am a better centre back than Ben Haim.

Also, I only discovered on saturday that one of Chasetowns centre backs only has one arm! Incredible.

one hand

only one hand
GO SUN SUB EDITOR TEAM!

'I'll take on Cardiff single handed'

The big news from yesterday was

Micky Adams leaving his assistant role at Colchester United. Should have stayed and waited til Williams gets the sack, I reckon

It's looking more and more that Defoe is holding out for a Bosman. Why would you stay? He's risking stunting his career at this rate. He'd score goals in pretty much any Premiership side

Hmmm

I'm not sure about Defoe. Obviously not playing hasn't helped,. but I don't think he uis good enough to play at the very highest level. A good signing for someone like Villa.

I think he'd do a good job at most places

I don't think it's completed unreasonable to expect Man Utd to come in for him. He's exactly the sort of player they need. But yeah, it seems much more likely he'll end up somewhere like Villa or Newcastle

Defoe

is a horrible little shit. Dirty, moody and a wannabee gangster. The longer he rots in the Spurs reserves the better.

I spy, with my little eye

a bitter west ham fan!

I still laugh at what a lot of west ham fans said about reo-coker at the start of the season. He's been great for us, no attitude problems at all either.

Admittedly yet.

doo doo doo!

NIGEL MEDIOCRE!

Happy birthday to you!

If only it weren't for Younis Kaboul, that would have been chant of the year...

what a game though. followed by chelsea-villa, spurs-reading...

aye, I concur with the two of you

I think if he went to A BIG FOUR club, he'd end up like Saha - doing a good job when he's called on, but basically playing as much as he does now, and with an uncertain future. If he goes to Villa or Man City (looking at the next tier of teams who need a striker) I'll think he'll do well, and could have a mjor part in helping either team get into Europe.

So yeah I reckon if he goes it'll be Villa (hopefully) or Man City (great for him)

why is that a risk

ok he might not play much for the rest of the season but on a free he can join pretty much anyone he wants

ok, i've got a phillipe senderos.

swapsies anyone?

you can have, er,

actually, no you can't. If he brings some chocolate and a cuckoo clock he can have a bed and shower for the night.

If Defoe goes to Villa...

you'll see the return of the 'Bling Boys'.

And I'm not bitter! Defoe is simply a cunt!

He is not

I love him.

he's fucking selfish in front of goal

i'll grant you, but what's he ever done to make him be a cunt?

(other then, y'know, leaving west ham for a better team)

transfer request...

the day we get relegated. classy chap.

transfer request 24 hrs

after team gets relegated. Deliberately getting himself sent off in matches. Going out with that Danielle Lloyd woman. His stupid barnet.

Do you want more?

yeah i guess

transfer request when your team goes down - fair enough I thought, the timing's irrelevant, he did stick with them at january etc, and he wwas still scoring etc for you

deliberately sent off - don't recall this, what happened?

danielle lloyd thing - pff, footballer dates moron with big fun bags, hardly a new thing is it?

his hair I'll grant you, I spent the last villa-spurs match laughing at that (well the football wasn't of the best calibre)

He's not in a John Terry, Lee Bowyer, Joey Barton or El Hadj Diouf mould is he?

Newcastle have made an official approach for Diarra

I hope we don't sell him. His attitude's not right but in the long-term it makes more sense to keep him than it does Gilberto. But, saying that, Gilberto will be more important in the run-in to this season

I thought something was up when Wenger didn't include him in the squad for the Burnley game, after saying he WOULD be involved

he's off

its a massive sghame, because he is an excellent player, and would get more games once Gilberto (who looks like he is playing on roller skates this season) left.

Dang. But still, we have denilson, diaby, fabregas, gilberto and flamini to fill in the 2 centre midfield spaces. Once wenger decides to move diaby infield.

Beckford was decent of Saturday, but not £3m.

He'll be a championship striker, but never worth that much.

Rui Marques is great though. Angolan HERO.

1.5/2m would be a decent return on Savage

so I'm happy enough with that, but there's got to be a replacement at some point, cm is so weak right now...

I'm getting a bit sick of hearing chairmen slagging off the appointment of Cappello

Today it was Gold from Birmingham's turn. Saying it made him sad.

Is your club's squad entirely English? No

Do you have an English manager? No.

Well then, shut the fuck up

I'm an extremely happy boy this week.

My best mate, Ed Thompson, is Dagenham's reserve goalkeeper and due to Tony Roberts getting sent off on Saturday, now has his big chance since turning pro in the summer.

What makes this a gajillion times better is the fact we all went to Uni in Lincoln, and now he will be playing us (i support them) at Sincil Bank on 26th January... You could barley make it up.

Good luck to him

Tony Roberts called me a 'complete cunt' at a Hendon v Dagenham FA Cup match once.

it was probably warranted

yes offence

I didn't throw the whisky

bottle.. I hate whisky.

Roberts...

Loves the bantering. Seen Dagenham a few times this season and every time he is chirping at the crowd who obviously give him plenty of stick.

Looks like

Everton may bring in some loan signings to cover for the Afro Nations Cup leavers. Centre Back Daniel Van Buyten may come in from Munich as cover for Yobo and there's talk of David Albelda coming from Valencia too to cover in midfield. Amusingly Manny Fernandes has been linked AGAIN after ditching us at the last minute to sign for Valencia. Take a hike sonny!

grimsby are playing in the

northern semi final of the paint trophy tonight against stockport, which is handy for me as it's only a 15 minute bus journey away.

i'm sure there's going to be a party atmosphere there.

i feel confident we'll win.
