Lali Puna describe themselves as electronic pop, citing Stereolab as a major influence, this is evident tonight with their slick and ambient mix of subdued vocals and electro-beats.
But it all sounds too polished, too similar and too constricted.
It isn't offensive or intrusive, but neither is it inspiring or different, the whole set is like watching them try, and fail, to fight their way out of a very wet paper bag.
For the first thirty minutes they are disjointed, sounding like they are all in the right place but at the wrong time.
They are at their best during the second half of their set where they temporarily ditch the vocal, turn up the noise and introduce guitars to the forefront.
Songs like "Don't think" and "Satur*nine" from latest album, "Scary world theory" are lost in the monotonous similarity of it all and at times it is infuriating to watch an obviously good band being held to ransom by their presumably fail safe, tried and tested format.
They say you can never have too much of a good thing, but in Lali Puna's case, they should ignore the proverbs and concentrate on finding their missing link.
