No, not some crazy 'what's your favourite big cat thread' but a Mac OS thread.

Does anyone here use Leopard and is it worth upgrading from Tiger?

Oh alright, for those that don't own a Mac, which is the best cat?

Tigers FTW!

i like the tigers because they bite peoples arms off

but i like snow leopards because they are doing the big battle with the magpies and it looks the funny

good point

I'll stick with Tiger then.

A Liger

It's pretty much my favourite animal.
it's like a lion and a tiger mixed...bred for it's skills in magic

but there are infertile

which i think means they don't have any sexualistic organs!

^not quite

it means they can's have offspring. they still have gennies. My favourites are Tigers. You can't beat a good tiger, it would maul you to death...boom boom

CAN“T

bloody typos!

TIGONS

are real too :) but BIGGER

henry's?

actually he's pretty thick isnt he?

I use Leopard on two of my Macs

and Tiger on the other two.

It really depends on your spec and what you use it for. Tell me those and I'll advise you accordingly.

:o !

How many macs does one man need?!

I need more.

Why?

Are you planning to take over the planet or something?

i was having massive issues with leopard on

a brand new macbook. turned out it was a faulty hard drive causing all of the problems. therefore, if you have a fairly modern mac, go for leopard. A lot of the advertised features are quite gimmicky (hello spaces!) but there seem to be quite a lot of noticeable 'under the hood' improvements from tiger. Plus if you're a programmer it comes loaded with much more stuff than Tiger did. I know one can install stuff on a computer but it's certainly nice for it to just be there out of the box.

Spaces? Gimmicky?

Pfft. I use it ALL of the time.

good for you

.

leopards have

very round heads, so based on that logic, tigers are better.

I was watching a big cat programme the other day

I wondered if the cheetahs ever got pissed off with the fact that their tails are always pointing upwards?

I like to think this was a helpful contribution to the discussion.

young lady

please don't lower the tone, or the intellectual pedigree of my relationship.

i was watching that the other day.

i took the piss out of crablin for putting it on but by the end i was hooked.

I have a Mac

but I still don't know what this means.

Leopard fact from Cotswold Wildlife Park: Leopards and panthers are the same species, panthers are just black ones.

that is a damn good fact.

I think I'm going to put it on my white board at work as new fact of the day!

that's a great fact

i haven't got a whiteboard at work but i will find some way to voice my love of it, maybe i'll try and get on QI

I use Tiger

My friend bought his laptop at the same time, and he's upgraded to Leopard. I can't really see the difference though, personally.

im running...

Leopard on both my g5 and power mac.
not put it on my laptop yet though.
i think its worth upgrading. not sure how it runs on older machines though.
spaces i use alot at work. its lots of the little things i like.
spotlight now goes straight to the top hit so i use it as a launch bar for programs. when renaming files finder no longer highlights the extension, just the name. all these little things add up to a better os.

don't waste your money on an upgrade

I don't think its worth getting as there's nothing wrong with Tiger.

I'm all for leopard

but it's what came when i bought my imac

on my old macbook i was running tiger and it was more than sufficient but i had some trouble with my soundcard/ booting up with a USB drive attached which is fixed in leopard.

none of the new features on leopard are worth the upgrade cost to me, though i can't do much of a speed comparison since i changed computer at the same time as os.

Tigers

at least they'd consider changing their stripes.

come on leopards, try and be a little less rigid about those spots...

tigers

probably only because they're orange.
