Going there today. Taking a sub-machine gun to pepper Dom 'Cunt' Masters with.

Anyone else going, and which bands you going to see?

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

im going to be down at the baltic square stage (futureheads etc) all day, might have to join you in abusing dom masters..why put the worst band there with one of the best ? bastards !

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

I shall be there as an extra backup in the Masters abuse game. If it's possible (ie not too busy) I'm gonna try and move between Baltic Square and Spillers Wharf to see Kubichek, Ordinary Boys, Super Furry Animals and The Futureheads.

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

How come when we had the orange festival last year, we didn't get any good acts? All we got was Turin Brakes and Atomic bloody Kitten!

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

Just back from the festivities, all in all a pretty decent event. My highlights were the Futureheads who were on great form and Kubichek who were excellent too. Lowlights were the number of pissed-up lairy ratboys and of course The Others. If only a few of those bottles had hit Masters I'd have been a happy man.

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

The line up is a lot better from when I went in 2003 to see Biffy Clyro. The headline act on the main stage was fucking Inspiral Carpets IIRC. And the organisation was terrible- but I'm assuming that's been sorted out now.

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

the colour = not bad , better than expected

boy kill boy = don't really remember

kubichek = not as good as their old band

vatican dc = entertaining in a strange not actaully that good way

hard fi = suprisingly not shit

fightstar = quite good, but their set was ruined by some kids in good charlotte hoodies hurling abuse (i laughed at the irony of the gc fans shouting busted-based abuse)

carbon silicon = most fun of the afternoon, in a strange 'dad-rock' sort of way

the others = shit, but i did inadvertently call dom masters a bastard to his face during hard fis set without meaning too, after trying to get him to sign a mailing list

futureheads = best by miles and miles, excellent

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

also me and everyone i was with have come home looking like lobsters... fuck that sun was bright !

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

Looks like you were at a diff stage to me most the day.

El Presidente
They started off sounding like the Dandy Wharhols, then finished sounding like Slade... Gaaah!

The Rakes
Quite enjoyed them actually, nice bit of bouncy fun. He's a pretty good front man

Dogs Die In Hot Cars
I know i'm gonna get slated for this, but i really enjoyed their set. Energetic, tight and and once again... FUN!

Ordinary Boys
Hmmm... what are these guys doing? I'm not sure if they know what direction they are meant to be pulling in!

Jules started to feel ill, so we went and sat in the car for a little while. Returned for the Futureheads... seen them twice in the last few weeks! As rock steady as they come... brilliant!

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

if you'd been around during hard-fis set you couldve had a chance to call dom masters a twat to his face in front of his worshipers.
he walked right by with at least 8-10 kids (12-14yrs old) following him then sat down and as literally surrounded you could barely see him under all the little girls (and a couple of lads)

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

Christ, if i had seen that i'd be in a jail cell right now. Fucking twat!

BTW, i've got a lobster face too... bloody sunny day that was.

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

oh yes... i saw dominic mincing around with his catastrophic hair. eeesh

but apart from his appearence blighting my sensitive eyes, it was a good day!

I watched Mylo (absolutely tremendous....free cider too!), Carbon Silicon (not my cup of snakebite) The Others - my friend and i revelled in dancing like cocks at the back and but of course the wondrous Futureheads.

I concur with marcofella - they were the best act i had seen that day! amazing stage presence and returning to the satge for a few more songs - oh yes! the only downside was that i guy tried to nick my shoe and throw it. tossssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

im a spammer

im sorry.....

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

if anyone reading this has doubted the reports of how sunny it was ... look here and thats before the sun really came out

Re: Newcastle Orange Festival

Yes, I'd just like to summarise that it was fucking sunny.

Highlight? Super Furry Animals

Most exciting personally? The Rakes

Suprisingly good? Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Would have been great if I was hammered? Mylo

Dizzee Rascal? Dizzee Rascal

Cool as hell? El Presidente

Me and a few mates spend the entire day right at the front of the Innovation stage for every act. It was a laugh.

Shame I missed The Futureheads though.
