The radio6 feedback forum has a lively discussion around the dumbing down of the Radio6 playlist and its Djs.
I wondered recently why such celebrities such as Joe Mace [childrens presenter] should get a placement on r6....it would seem that the entire new flux of DJs to R6 & R2 has been hired form the same agency. The morning and afternoon shows have suffered hugely...sean keavney, george lamb & nemone who all follow on from eachother are from this agency.
This is pretty bad news in terms of diversity and many r6 listeners are trying to raise awareness in the press about this issue.

There is the argument - 'turn over the radio'....but to what?? those of us who can listen online can listen to a multitude of shows from all over... but what about those poor sods out and about with just a dab radio for company.

You'd have to hope that either
Lamb's a total flop and is hounded out of 6 Music (the prefered outcome) or that's he's am amazing success and is moved to a different higher profile station (a la Russell Brand)
RE: the agency
is it not possible that this agency snaps up DJs who are on BBC radio? as in, they get their bbc jobs and then start fraternising with the others, who recommend the agency that theyre with?

This, I'd imagine, could somewhat discredit the strength of feeling, which is perhaps what he had in mind.

the fact there is one in the first place might affect things.
I doubt anyone will care, to be honest, even with all the stuff on DiS. As today's Indy points out there are 41 anti-Whiley Facebook groups and I doubt the BBC are shovelling her off anywhere soon.

I had high hopes for 6 Music and, for a while, things were looking promising: a radio station for music fans. Ah well. We get what we deserve I suppose, can't imagine what I did to deserve this moron.

the best thing ever on radio? there was a bit on his show last night, before playing a "melancholy" song where he warned, completely honestly and not patronisingly in any way, that it's not worth "doing something silly" because you're depressed because it's winter, summer comes round, and that he'd rather have you not listen to a miserable song on his show than listen and do "something daft"
