My IPod just died and

I'm already thinking about getting another one. Maybe it's too soon. I just don't see how I could live without one.

Anyways, I was reading a similar thread a couple of months ago on the board of a now defunct porcine related website and stumbled upon a thread where a lot of people were recommending a brand I'd never heard of before, something korean from what I remember. Would any of you happen to know which brand I'm talking about? Are they any good? any other suggestions on what to get? I'm not an apple lover but my Ipod 20go worked just fine for 3,5 years up until today and I was quite happy with it so I might just get a new one. Are the new models any good?

When you say 'died'

what do you mean?

well it won't work anymore

it says I have to go on the website for help, Itunes doesn't recognize it anymore, the hard drive makes weird noises, and I've tried to reset it with no result :(

i want to get a new one too.

my one is just fucked up and pissing me off. and since it was bought in north america i don't know about guarantee and/or i think i'd have lost it anyway.

Maybe ..

... if it's less than a year old and you got it from an apple store there, just go to Regent Street and they'll do a straight swap for a working one. Not sure about if you bought it elsewhere, but if you still have the receipt they'll probably play ball.

interesting idea.

but i've moved house since i got it, and i really have no idea where it could be...

Receipt

If you bought it from an apple store, you definitely don't need a receipt, and might not even if you got it elsewhere - give them a call and they should be able to tell you on the phone. You can also get it fixed via the apple web site - they send you a box with squishy stuff in to post it to amsterdam - I got the replacement in about 2 days. I've had a lot of ipods and lots that have broke, if you can't tell ...

REALLY?

thanks for that. i shall have a look! :)

ps.

where on the apple site? :S

Somewhere under

http://www.apple.com/uk/

I need to do *some* work today ... easiest is apple store on regent street if you're in london

i might just do this.

as i can't seem to be able to describe my problem, as they only have a list of issues that i don't have :(

well i just got a new 60gb

ipod, and it does me just fine, the only reason i got it was because i needed more space, i even sold my old one

Try getting a creative zen?

I got my 60GB vision M for about £160 on Amazon and its so good, and the video quality pisses all over ipods.

I've seen these before

but I don't think I like their menus and their general "feel". I should probably try them out with a little more objectivity.

My iRiver H340 passed its 3rd birthday over Christmas

I'm getting ready to mourn its passing - death can't be far away now.

Nothing is as good as the H340. NOTHING. Shit. :(

The staff...

in the Regent Street Apple store are generally amazing.

My 80gb classic has been replaced twice because the headphone jack stopped working. Just go in, doesn't matter if you bought it from there 'cos they're all automatically registered to Apple anyway.

are these new "touch" models worth the money?

what's special about them? Do they really only come in 8go and 16go? Why would anyone pay more for less?

"what's special about them"

i think a clue is in the "iPod Touch" name

yeah but besides

the fact it has a touch screen, are there any new functionalities?

basically

it does all the iPhone stuff minus the phone bit so you have wifi for the internet and email etc. Not really worth it unless you that addicted to DiS.

It's totally worth!

Internetz is the best part of an iPhone. I'm literally NEVER bored.

Waiting for my girlfriend to finish shopping? INTERNETZ

On a train journey? INTERNETZ

Queueing for a bagel? INTERNETZ

etc

I always thought

the abbreviation was "go", that's why.

^

I know this makes absolutely no sense when you think of it

actually

after googling it, I think "go" might be the French abbreviation

I think Apple need a new logo.

Perhaps a faceless consumer being bent over and bummed by a giant apple?

I still love my iPhone though.
