Did anyone else go tonight? It really was quite good. I was stunned to hear The Death of A Disco Dancer (I never thought I'd hear that live), Stop Me...(!), Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, How Soon is Now.
It was a pleasure overload.

Lots of foaming at the
mouth with men trying to grab his abandoned shirt though...Oh and volume at the Roundhouse is terrible. You can hear people breathe.
Did he open with How Soon is Now?
Apparently he did on Tuesday, National Front Disco also got an airing.
I'm going on Friday!
What was the banter like?
Dammit, I need to know!
Would be grateful if anyone who has been to any of the Roundhouse shows would add their thoughts with regard to the perfomance to this thread.
A few of my friends went
They were all really disappointed. Apparently he only played for an hour and his set was pretty weak. Hardly worth the £35 in my opinion.
That's a pity.
With any luck (for me) that was just an off night. Reviews have been quite good so far.
I hope he's saving himself for the weekend then.
I'm bidding on a ticket for edinburgh just now
Fingers crossed i'll get it.
I so hope he's good. I know he won't be the smiths-esque hero that he is to me, but it'll be good to say I saw him "appear live" at least once. He just seems like a bit of a has-been these days. All the songs i've heard off his newer albums were really cheesy and rubbish.
Good luck with the bid!
I broadly agree with you, the two 'post-comeback' albums weren't too great although there are some pretty good songs on each of them as well as some excellent b-sides for the You are the Quarry singles.
I've seen him 3 times and I'd say that he still has it in him to deliver great performances. I guess he's a temperamental bastard so you never know quite what you're going to get.
I think you'd definitely enjoy the gig though.
Went to wednesdays
Was expecting alot...and it truly delivered. His voice seems abit ropey, think he's suffering and quipped that he might not last the 6 nights, but it made no difference. He was on top form. Someone ran on stage and kissed the great man on his hand. Was hoping theyd play NFD too..maybe next time. Setlist is similar to his recent tours in the states and france.
Shamefully I've only just started listening
with the Ringleader LP. And all I can say with certainty is that "To Me You Are A Work Of Art" stuck in my brain like superglue - it's a beautiful song. Does he play that one live?
I was there
on wednesday too
i was working (sort of) and got free entry, so I felt a bit guilty when I heard people saying they'd spent 40 quid on a ticket.
it was a good set, how soon is now especially...there were a few around me who were gutted he didn't play this charming man as he apparently did the night before...
don't think
I'd have paid that amount to see it, mind...
moz
oh my god all those would of made me swoon into a pile of ash - im swooning just reading it swooooooonnn
what a dick i am for doubting him and not getting a ticket - ive only seen him at glastonbury when libs were supposed to play before him
he can still do it live,
but he's better in a slightly smaller venue. saw him at portsmouth guildhall a few years back and the crapness of the city + it being a crap provincial not-too-big city hall + obsessive provincial fans made it one to remember. it felt like the 90s. lovely.
