Who will survive the Hype?

So it seems that White Man Kamikaze are the most hyped unsigned band ever. Will they live up to expectations....FUCKING RIGHT THEY WILL. The Verge is going to be a famous night, those who miss it will claim they were there and those who are there will wish they weren't!

Re: Who will survive the Hype?

Hype is like a good horror movie - it leaves most things to the imagination...

Looking forward to the Verge, though.

I saw White Man Kamikaze a few weeks ago in some backwater venue in Kingston and they got everything right as far as I'm concerned. They were loud, rocked the whole crowd and actually had some killer riffs. They were the sort of band that made me wish I could play, so I could be in a band too. If talent and energy are anything to go by, these kids'll go far.

I wish they had some of their songs on their website, though, 'cos I can't wait until July to hear them again.

u shameless w*nkers

such an obvious and cral self-plug. get out more

Re: u shameless w*nkers

Yeah we're all getting sick of it

good hype = other people saying you're good. and by other people I mean real other people not people that are blatantly you pretending to be someone else.

bad hype = you hyping yourselves up in a way that makes you look desparate and puts people off.

Re: u shameless w*nkers

You haven't got a fucking clue who I am...

If I can't post a message about a band I like then I won't visit this site again.

Re: u shameless w*nkers

you can post a message about a band you like, apart from your OWN band or your MATE'S band. Thats when it looks obvious and annoying. Like what your band are doing right now.

Re: calm down people.

Jealousy is a terrible thing, WMK just got played on XFM and it was awesome as fuck! Pretty soon you will all be dancing to their tune. So what if the band post messages about themselves, unfortunately there are no rules.

looking back to the Ricky debacle here

it began to do them much more harm than good

not that i'm saying these are wmk friends/members posting these messages of course...but just a thought, incase

Re: Hype is Hype!

Hype is hype, even if the band write about themselves then that is fine in my opinion. If they live up to the talk then that is cool, if they suck then they look like wankers, simple as.

Re: Hype is Hype!

you're missing the point.

The point doesn't involve about the music. People, like myself, get so pissed off about shamless plugging from bands who hide their identity. That's gives a negative vibe straight away before they've heard music, and to be hated without anyone hearing your music is a worst scenario for any band.

Re: Hype is Hype!

Yes, I've never heard you and you've succeeded in putting me off before even hearing you by making up a load of ass-licky posts praising your band. If you want to be upfront about it and say, I'm in this band and we rock, come and see us... then fine (although that may still annoy some people if you do it too much) just don't make up people

Re: COMING CLEAN!

It appears that people are getting frustrated with all the 'fake' posts that have appeared on this board. I can see how people could be sceptical of any band that made up a whole load of comments to get themselves noticed. It does somewhat smack of desperation and that can turn some people off. wether the comments are genuine or not is neither here nor there right now. The important thing is that the name got read and remembered, that is it. As an unsigned band we must use all the things at our disposal to get noticed. We could have left the internet well alone and just carried on using word of mouth but we have reached hundreds of peoples minds here already, just by being mentioned on this site. Thanks to everyone who left posts about us, good or bad, you done a great job. Now all we have to do is play the only way we know how and global domination is assured. And Matt, come and see us play at The Verge and then decide what you think of it.KAMIKAZE UBER ALLES!

Re: COMING CLEAN!

I've tried it before years ago, it doesn't work. Record some demos, sign a record deal, and get people to HEAR your music.

Re: COMING CLEAN!

Didn't work for you though did it.......

Re: COMING CLEAN!

luck of the draw isn't it?

Re: COMING CLEAN!

Luck has nothing to do with it. If a band are genuinely good enough then a deal will find them, not the other way round.

White Man Kamikaze

Although they're posing angsty boybanders, Halo at least had the decency to build their hype on some disgustingly polished, expensively recorded music...

Put your money where your mouth is. Making MP3s is a cheap, lo-tech affair, send us some of your tunes to listen to and if you're as good as you reckon, we'll put 'em up or write about you.

Re: White Man Kamikaze

Are you blind?

Re: White Man Kamikaze

Well, I didn't think I was blind until you suggested I was... because I can't see a CD of White Man Kamikaze music to listen to before passing judgement...

Re: White Man Kamikaze

The point I was trying to get across was that DiS has already reviewed 2 of their CD's already AND given them a blistering 4.5 for each one!!!! Stop trying to be clever and see what you've been missing.

Re: White Man Kamikaze

We don't all sit in an office, listening to CDs together... if someone gives me access to their music, I'll listen. I just hope it's not as shit as Ricky, the previous darlings of posters on this board.

Re: White Man Kamikaze

No one could be as shit as Ricky. The Kamikaze's are a whole different kettle of street trash.

Re: White Man Kamikaze

Oh my god Ricky are, like, SO good!!
I don't know how you can say otherwise!!

Reliable Raz

Yeah.....Ricky ARE brilliant. So were Northen Uproar and Northside. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

Re: Reliable Raz

Oh, I was just taking the piss.
I've never *actually* heard anything by Ricky!
