Ok, so at the moment i live in Newcastle. Well I am selling up, quiting my job and moving to Cornwall (Callington, near Plymouth).

Anyone on here from the area? Are there any good music venues that get ncluded on most tours etc? What is the nightlife like in Plym?

Cheers

"Callington is the home of the Worldwide Headquarters of Ginsters, and the famous Ginsters Pasty Factory. Ginsters is the largest employer in the town today and employs hundreds of locals as well as many immigrants who have arrived as a consequence of the recent accession to the EU of a number of Eastern European countries."

Jokes!

they come over here

making our pasties!

Oh no

Yeah, bloody English, coming down here, taking our jobs!!

Callington

feels like the end of the world.

most small bands will go to the hub

other than that your lucky if they get past exeter.
Even past bristols a struggle for most. Bands are gay,

I live in Cornwall

as does JGJug, and a few others...can't remember all their names. Callington is quite far from the main parts of Cornwall, but reasonably close to Plymouth. Not sure of the nightlife there, but there are some great things going on around Truro and Falmouth. Look out for gigs put on by Lono Records - they've had Jeffrey Lewis, Dufus, Sunburned Hand of the Man, and they're getting some brilliant bands soon. It's not great for big name bands, some play at Plymouth Pavilions, but gigs there are expensive and usually have terrible sound.

I live in falmouth

and have never noticed a good gig on.
Kate Walsh played in camborne actually i think, but thats it, and i dont really like kate walsh.
You'll have to let me know though next time because i'm not one for hearing of these gigs generally.

start with going to MV&EE at Miss Peapods on 11th Feb

and Johnny Foreigner are supporting either the Courteeners (ugh) or Young Knives in Truro soon, can't remember which band. Jose Gonzalez is playing Hall For Cornwall in April, Howlin Rain on 7th May at Peapods, 13th August - Charalambides.

Just check here - http://www.myspace.com/lonorecords - from time to time, and www.sw1productions.co.uk, along with http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=163283525. That should get you out more!

i think its the courteneers

i rmember that one now.
considering whether its worth the pain.
Never knew the young knives were playing down here though.

Not sure if i can deal with all the psychedelic folk balls at miss peapods. Was going to go see Nancy Elizabeth there but couldnt be bothered in the end... my own fault really

Young Knives

is 4th March in L2. L. 2. Ugh.

Never been there.

Always been too much of an effort. Is it no good then?

And Johnny foreigner are supporting young knives. So thats a good gig.

(that's what I was thinking

but didn't want to say it...)

because the girl

i have met lives there and i am going to live with her :-P

Poor Jules

She was always my favourite "fella"

^^^

this!!?!!

Well we kinda went our seperate ways unfortunatly :-(

She has custody of the kids, i get them on a weekend. Once i move, i will have them for a week each month.

Mr Fixit

Its about a hundred times better for live music down here than it was about ten years ago. Rootjoose anyone???

it's Rairbirds now I think...

apparently they're quite good live, they've done some things at Eden. And testicles, yep, L2 is horrendous.

if..

you want a good guide to the cornwall music scene and everything then this is your best bet.

www.amplifeye.com

get on the forums there and then that should give you a good idea of whats going on when.

enjoy :)

are there any

decent jobs in Cornwall? What would a 20 something music obsessive do there?

It's been my dream for yonks to just get a psychedelic campervan and go live in Cornwall!

this^

cornwall would be my ideal place to live (due to the fact i surf) but aside from being on the dole and whoring out my bum bum in newquay i couldn't imagine what id do?

my cousin

works for ginsters. He's ostracised by the rest of the family as a traitor to the true Cornwall.

nb: good music venues - none. Plymouth nightlife - sailors.

cornwall

cornwall is awesome for gigs now compared to a few years ago. sw1 productions put on a load of good gigs. young knives and johnny foriegner in march. the twang. subways. jose gonzalez all soon.
bits and pieces of stuff in plymouth but cavern club in exeter has loads of upcoming bands.
the local band scene is pretty strong with bands like lioness and the sycamores.
i could talk about this all day so ask me anything you want
