What a complete let down - is it just that there aren't any decent venues In Brighton or that bands can't be arsed to travel that far south? I moved from the midlands to go down south and that looks like a blunder as Nottingham seems to have much better gigs...
Eh?
Who do you want that aren't playing?
Brighton
full of fecking art students.
Aren't Johnny Truant from Brighton?
Don't they play there?
there are LOADS of gigs in brighton
i can't think of who you would want to see play who doesn't.
note to BRIGHTON - more electronica please thanks

http://tinyurl.com/2rds6v
no, hardly any gigs then
To be fair, most of those gigs aren't worth going to
Apart from Earth and Bob The Builder.
easily enough
to get along with unless you're rich and have no other commitments. And Brighton should feel blessed that they have 2 nights of Bob
I've been to some great gigs in Brighton
Keep your ear to the ground and I'm sure you'll find something you like.
Yeah
but nottinghma crowds suck. SUCK!
Brighton gets loads of
decent gigs, try living in East anglia for a poor selection
HEAR HEAR
flipping shit
off the top of my head
here are some thiongs that ui might go to over the next month ish
Polar Bear
Crystal castles
Black Dice
Fuck Buttons
Cut Copy
it's not bad!
wah?
this month alone i have 5 gigs lined up (Admitedly one in london), Bighton is great for bands, sometimes the crowds can be a little dissapointing but it's a regular fixture on tour schedules..
Also...
National Noise Day is held in Brighton. Respect.
Couple of good instores coming up too
Laura Marling & Los Camp!
crap.
...actually...
I've discovered Low are playing Brighton, so in fact Brighton is now wonderful and I retract my original gripe, and now freely admit that it is possibly the best place for gigs on the planet.
That said, can I really face entering the Freebutt to see I was a Cub Scout? A fine venue for Part Chimp maybe but...
islands are playing too
and various other brilliant bands i cant remember
Good venue the Freebutt
If a bit hot sometimes.
Action beat
are playing 19th (instrumentality) and 27th (greenhouse effect) Febuary.
Aren't Zettasaur....
.....playing that Action Beat show at Greenhouse Effect? That should be a real good one!
We're putting on The Death Set with The Sticks @ Water Margin next Monday. It's gonna be rad!
Other stuff we've got coming up in Brighton includes:
An Emergency w/ Mirror Mirror
Peter and the Wolf
Munch Munch
dude keep an eye on the Lack of Communication website, i think it's myspace.com/lackofcommunicationshows
I might be wrong but yeah they're pretty much the A-List promoters in Brighton now.
playing gigs in brighton is rubbish
as it's full of unappreciative and ungrateful people like you (wild internet assumption based on one posting) but there is certainly no lack of decent gigs to go see. In fact, I'd say that I could pretty much go to a gig every night and enjoy myself, it's just a case of sorting the shit from the sexiness which can often be difficult with the amount of atrocious bands in Brighton.
This is a good place to keep up with what is happening : http://www.myspace.com/brightonlivespace
And this is the best band in Brighton, and the world : www.myspace.com/4or5magicians
where are Los Camp playing the instore?
resident?
OOOOH
must find this out although i'm worried it'll be when i'm at work :(
you have to come to the gig at the concorde 2
los campesinos + johnny foreigner + esiotrot! And I might be wrong but I think it's only £8 too.
It's on the 19th. Only downside is we aren't doing this one, but at least it means I can fully enjoy the gig this way!
yarrrrr
i have an exhibition to dismantle that day though! Hope i'll be finished by then...
yeah
see 4 or 5 Magicians even when they have to support people like...i want to say Red Right Hand but it was a left hand instead i think.
lol

^
this is brilliant.
Best place
to look for gigs in Brighton is to take a look in Resident Records window, in Kensington Gardens North Laines.
Dont ask me to list the venues, way too many. Check out www.escapegreat.com UK's SXSW
I think Brighton's pretty flawless for gigs
But the problem with the great escape is that a lot of the bands that play there feel they don't have to play Brighton another time during the year. Which can be annoying.
friday at the greenhouse effect
will be a good gig in brighton (well technically hove) for the indie pop inclined amongst you.
more information needed
Brighton
There are loads of amazing gigs. Anyone who says otherwise is either stupid, lazy or has a bad taste in music.
We are putting on the following bands at The Freebutt in Brighton soon:
Jayetal (2 piece live electronica)
HEALTH
Eyes (sound like Velvet Underground on more drugs)
Skitanja (mental avant rock)
Brighton has loads of great gigs and venues
I went to 5 or 6 gigs in a 10 week period last year and I missed a couple of others I would otherwise have gone to. Yes there is a lot of chaff and in terms of arena-size venues there's only really the Brighton Centre (which is shit) but apart from that it's amazing.
that friday gig...
sorry there wasn't much info on my previous post. the gig this friday is Foxes!, Plastic Passion & The Lucans! It's on at the Greenhouse Effect on Church Road, Brighton, BN3...Cost=FREE!
www.myspace.com/foxesfoxesfoxes
not sure about the other bands' links.
i did the poster for that
i'm going to that gig
WINNER!
ahh it's great poster!
see you down there!
yeah
see YOU there!
